Spring Break!

March 24th, 2017

Photo credit: theclbridge.com It’s finally spring break! As a senior, it’s sad to think about how this will be my last spring break with my best friends without having any responsibilities. A group of us are going to Las Vegas for the first time which is really exciting now that we are all 21. However, majority of CU students are going to Mexico, one of the more popular spring break locations. For those of you who do not live in student housing, I’ve put together a check list to make sure you are completely prepared for this week long vacation. Make sure all your windows and doors are locked. Make... Read More

St. Patty’s Day Fun

March 11th, 2017

Next Friday is St. Patty’s Day and CU students love to go all out. It’s a day where you can guarantee that people will start drinking in the morning and keep it going until night. Students will either skip class or go to class drunk, but hey it’s a day of celebration and you only live once right? However, this is a day where students, especially ones under the age of 21 should be extra careful with their partying. The Boulder Police are planning to step up their enforcement, and one of the most common offenses over St. Patty’s weekend is minors in possession of alcohol and marijuana. St.... Read More

CU’s LEAF Club

February 17th, 2017

Photo Credit: LEAFclub.org CU prides itself on being one of the few schools in Colorado to take environmental initiatives. One club that is recognized on campus is LEAF club, which stands for Learning and Environmental Awareness Force. The goal of LEAF club is to cover different projects made by students, faculty and administration to push CU’s green footprint forward and farther. This club wants to raise awareness of recycling and how to do it properly which has become an issue that needs to be addressed. CU has begun using compostable materials which is great, but there are not enough receptacles... Read More

Academic Success

February 10th, 2017

Photo Credit: galleryhip.com For those students who are having a hard time staying focused during the academic semester, instead of getting prescribed Adderall, CU is offering workshops on how to achieve academic success for the remainder of the year. I received an email from my advisor outlining these various workshops, and I think it would be useful to share it in my blog. However, these workshops are only being offered from February 13-28th so take advantage of the help if you feel like you are struggling! Procrastination Busters 2/14, Tue 4-5:00 PM Fleming 150 Is procrastination getting in... Read More

Women’s March in Denver

January 27th, 2017

Photo Credit: Belladivadance.com Last weekend was a very historical weekend. Friday was the inauguration of President Trump (gag), and Saturday was a woman’s march that became a global event. I unfortunately was unable to attend the march that took place in Denver, but I was definitely there in spirit, and sent some energy to all the women as a collective. The turn out for the march around the world was amazing. In Denver there were 200,000 women who came together, when only 40,000 were predicted. In Los Angeles over 750,000 people participated. Washington DC, there was over 1 million. Globally... Read More

CU is Buzzing with Activities

January 20th, 2017

Photo credit: University of Colorado at Boulder Memorial Center This week was my last first week of my last semester of college. Though that is bitter sweet, I’m not going to let the senioritis set in just yet. There are too many activities happening on campus to even allow me to think about graduation. Some of these activities are: Seeing Laverne Cox speak at Macky Auditorium on January 25th BuffsUnited: An evening of poetry, performance and community art projects. The first 100 students to go to this event will receive a ticket to see Laverne Cox speak Friday Night Film in Chem 140. These... Read More

Get Outside!

January 13th, 2017

Photo Credit: report.az Can you believe the warm weather we’ve been having?! It seems like we were in winter, skipped spring and just jumped to summer. If you’re used to living in Boulder, you know that around this time of year the warm weather isn’t that unusual. It also wouldn’t be unusual if it was 80 degrees one day and then a blizzard the next day. I’m happy that I don’t live on the East Coast because it’s getting a couple feet of snow and now that we are closer to summer, that just sounds brutal. We’ve been blessed with a mild winter this year; of course we do live in Colorado... Read More

Christmas Break!

December 16th, 2016

Finals are over and its almost time for Christmas! This year CU has a slightly longer Christmas vacation than previous years. We have an entire month off this time, we go back to school January 17th. Having a whole month off sounds fab because I hate doing school work and love sleeping in and just hanging out all day. It’s also the last time that I will have this amount of time off to just do nothing before I have to enter the real world at the end of second semester. However, when I think about it, one month is a really long time when you have nothing planned, so I’ll have to keep myself busy.... Read More

Ways to Destress for Finals!

December 10th, 2016

Photo Credit: Tori Bailey It’s finals week and everybody is stressed out. Luckily there are lots of things to do to help with the stress! Go to the gym for an hour Knit (if you’re into that) Watch a holiday movie Get a massage Bake goodies Take a nap, honestly Build a snow man/play in the snow Smoke some weed Have a good cry (scientifically speaking it makes you feel better) Repeatedly tell yourself you are going to be okay and that finals are not the end of the world. This week may feel like the longest week ever, but hang in there it’s almost over!  Read More
