Whether blazing his own trail or following someone else’s, Dakota is always moving forward. He frequently partakes in trail runs and 14er expeditions, hoping to combine the two this upcoming summer. Dakota’s passion for the outdoors reaches all facets of his life, though. Spearheading a plan to install a community garden/ learning landscape, he will be the first person to implement such am environment on CU Boulder’s East Campus. Although he was born and raised in the Midwest, Boulder and the mountains are home to this outdoor enthusiast. Thanks Dakota!  Read More

Meet Ollie! Ollie recently moved to Boulder to experience the culture and world-class climbing it has to offer. So far he is loving the decision, and is knocking off classic climbs every day. Besides crushing boulder problems, Ollie loves the atmosphere and hanging out with fellow climbers at the crags. If you don’t know who he is, you can tell you’re climbing with Ollie if his beta for any problem includes at least four heel hooks. Thanks Ollie!  Read More

“Running clears my head and is a great way for me to relieve stress. I try to get out every day for either physical or mental reasons. I love it because it gives me a freedom unlike anything else. I can zone out completely or focus on certain issues and work it out in my head. Most importantly, beer tastes that much better after a solid run.” Thanks for the insight Josh!  Read More

An Ebio major by day, slam dunk champion by night. Meet Mak, my neighbor and current SlamJampalooza winner. Mak moved to Colorado from Alaska to attend CU Boulder and hone his mini-hoop skills. Every opportunity he gets, Mak travels around the world to scuba dive and fish. If you were to ask Mak how he would describe himself, he would say he’s a mix between Shaq and Aquaman. An opportunist by nature, there is no doubt Mak helps make Boulder the intriguing place we can all call home. Thanks Makane!  Read More

“Besides the mountains, what really drew me to Colorado is the openness of the people, not just with each other, but also with activities and events,” recalls Jake, a skateboard, snowboard, and slackline enthusiast. Other than trying to maintain his balance on various kinds of objects, Jake studies Neuroscience and Business at CU Boulder. You can find him either diving at Casa Bonita or at an Umphrey’s McGee show, his favorite jam band. However, Jake promised me more than anything he loves sitting on the couch and playing some Rocket League after a long day. Thanks Jake!  Read More

Meet Woody! Woody visits the dog daycare I help out at every so often, and has quite the personality. Some of his favorite things include belly rubs, a good stick, and catching his own tail (which he is extremely good at I might add). Rumor has it, if you pet him behind the ear in just the right way, his tail can wag near the speed of light. Boulder is home to many incredible and interesting animals, and Woody is no exception.  Read More

It is difficult for most people to answer what their favorite movie is at the drop of a hat. Not for Cameran. Since April 17th of 2015, Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 has been considered cinematic gold for this CU student. He claims to be able to quote the whole flick, and has seen it entirely too many times. Although, if you ask Cam if he wants to watch it, the probability he says no is slim to none. Cameran studies Environmental Science; however, his first priority is remaining free from dangers because, according to him, “security is a mission, not an intermission.”  Read More

Meet Nick. Nick is a current CU Art major. He frequently creates ceramic pieces and psychedelia-themed paintings. Falling in love with art at a young age, he has been able to keep his passion alive by finding inspiration in just about everything. “I don’t aim to make any statements with my work,” he grins, “I just paint what I think would be fun.” His current project will entail using all five senses to fully experience the artwork.
