Wondering what your fate might be for the 2018 year? Will you follow your diet, layoff your vices, drag yourself to the gym? Chances are, if you didn’t stick to your guns in 2017, a New Year’s resolution isn’t going to change a thing. In that case, I dare you to drink your fate! You might as well save yourself the hassle, relax, and pour a pint. So, let’s kick the New Year off right, celebrating Boulder’s finest: Beer.

Our celebration begins with the birthday of FATE Brewing Company, which was incorporated just 6 years ago this month! FATE, founded in 2012 by Mike Lawinski, is a staple to the Boulder beer culture, offering a unique and fun twist to the craft community. When Lawinski saw his fate written in the stars, he realized his mission: “To share with the world our passion for craft beer, love of innovative crave-able food and devotion to service and community.” We all thank you, Mike.

FATE even chose to name their core beers after gods/goddesses whom represent fate, destiny, and purpose. Names such as the Baltic Goddess, Laima and the Slavic Goddess, Sudice join forces, uniting diverse cultures under one name: FATE. Sudice, a 7%, American Style Stout is a unique spin on a classic, while Laimas is a lighter 5% Kölsch Style Ale. This Kölsch is not your typical German beer, booming with bold flavor that won it Gold in the Great American Beer Festival.

Not only is the beer bursting with flavor, but the Boulder taproom is painted with canvas prints of local landscapes and eye-popping art, making for an inviting atmosphere to enjoy a meal with friends. Did I forget to mention their award-winning food? Oh yes, they have some sensational dishes, including their BBQ that’s cooking in their Yoder Smoker out back. See for yourself—have a kick-ass meal or pop in for a tour of the brewery any given Sunday.  And, be sure to check out FATE’s new location in Lafayette!

Fresh to Boulder, Bronwen made the trek from the East Coast this past June. The decision to move westward came to her after exploring our magnificent country for two wonderful months on the road. Before moving to CO, Bronwen attended Roger Williams University, where she jumped at the chance to study abroad in Perugia, Italy for 4 months at the Umbra Institute. Her passion for the world didn’t begin there, but when she caught the travel bug on her first trip to Italy while attending Kent School. Now, she’s loving her new life in Boulder! Since the big move, she’s been taking advantage of every second of sunshine our beautiful city has to offer. Whether it’s pushing her limits on a hike or practicing yoga in her backyard, she thrives in the outdoors. Aside from traveling and enjoying nature, Bronwen is a huge movie buff, especially when it comes to LOTR and Batman. You can always find her photographing and writing about her adventures!
