March 24th, 2024

In Boulder, where the mountains stand as silent witnesses to the resilience of nature, a similar strength is found in the hearts of those who seek healing. Ellie Grey Ashton, a Colorado local with an MS in Psychology, PhD candidacy in Psychology/Developmental Psychology, and an alphabet list of healing certifications, is a testament to this. From Adversity to Empathy Ashton identifies himself as an empathetic leader who earned a “full-ride” NCAA DI football scholarship at the Virginia Military Institute. In his own healing journey, Ashton earned certifications in advanced herbalism, acceptance... Read More

Stained Glass Sunrise or Stained Glass Horizon Setting? Is There Any Real Difference? Sunrise over the Boulder Valley. OR Horizon-Setting in the Morning? Does the sun rise over Boulder or does the horizon set? Is there any difference? Is Sunday morning a great time to chat about dimensional convenience? What IS dimensional convenience? EASY! To drive from Boulder to Denver we ignore that the earth is curved; that it is a grapefruit. We... Read More

Breaking Barriers: The Impact of the Tuskegee Airmen on Civil Rights and Equality

March 22nd, 2024

Boulder is happily not the setting for this picture. This photographic record of the true horror of segregation is not a scene from ancient history. This picture could have been taken during my lifetime! I personally saw scenes like this as late as 1962 going through the deep South by train. As a child it made no sense to me. As an adult it still makes no sense to me. Imagine fighting and winning the war in Europe only to return home to the reality of racism and discrimination. “You can die for your country as long as you don’t drink from the “Whites Only” water fountain.... Read More

Boulder Snorkel Skiing: What, Why, and Where?

March 21st, 2024

Boulder‘s own ski area, Eldora, certainly qualifies as a hidden gem ski area. It’s right in our back yard, just west of “downtown” Nederland. The skiing is impressive, especially considering that the slopes are right in our back yard. Deep Powder Skiing Essential Gear: The Snorkel Did I say snorkel skiing? While generally a figure of speech, it refers to skiing in powder so deep that you have to use a skin diver’s snorkel. The snorkel get the diver air by to be able to breath over the top of the blast of champagne powder snow that your skiing is kicking up. In deep... Read More

Boulder’s Lensworth At Large Spreading Misinformation

March 20th, 2024

From Boulder, this is Lensworth At Large spreading misinformation about the four corners and seven edges of the earth. Today I’d like to chat about our abundance of cotton tail rabbits and the real risk that they present to the human population of Boulder. Even my Mother was afraid of rabbits. On the other hand she was afraid of most things! I know the names of every disease, bug, parasite, and rash carried by every local animal due to her repeated lectures and warnings. Although commonly mistaken for cows, this confusion is unnecessary. Bunnies do not have udders with teats, and cows don’t... Read More
