Boulder Art Fest: Outdoor Art Museum Masterpieces!
I admit I am overwhelmed. Overwhelmed by the level of talent that visits our Boulder Mall to hang their masterpieces for our enjoyment and hopeful purchase. IMO (in my opinion) some of the art was without question of museum quality, the artists achieving true artistic professional status. Many are in fact professional full and part-time artists. I was overwhelmed and remain tongue-tied. As a recovering lawyer, that does not happen much. Over the next couple of days I’m going to focus on one artist per blog. The creators are as interesting and delightful as their creations. My initial challenge was to decide who to spotlight for Motivational Monday. I picked Gary Chaffin.
Although I hate keeping secrets after 48 years (and counting) of keeping people’s confidences, I am going to keep the Chief Niwot Surprise for at least a day or three. It’s big!
For today, I want to share Gary’s wire-work. Sitting down at his worktable with spools of wire and some pliers he sculpts things. Using a couple of round-shaped long nosed jewelry pliers, a wire cutter, and his amazing imagination to create masterpieces that bring smiles, he creates.
The hardest part of shooting the Art Fest was getting home and realizing that I should have taken another hundred pictures! The second hardest part was keeping my wallet in my pocket.
These instruments are about six inches tall.
I could not take my eyes off Mr. Piano! In professional artistic language, this one is just too cool! Some of his pieces are kinetic, powered by a turn-crank.
New Mexico based artists were in abundance. Their willingness to visit Boulder for our Art Fest speaks to the importance of the festival in the art world. It draws true talent willing to travel to exhibit their genius. Thanks for sharing Gary! I’m still smiling!
