Boulder Sunday Night Recap: CU Buffs Win & Family Weekend

As another vibrant week in Boulder comes to a close, there’s no better time to look back at the highlights that brought energy, pride, and togetherness to our community. From a thrilling football win at Folsom Field to CU Boulder’s Family Weekend traditions, plus music and neighborhood celebrations, Boulder once again reminded us why it’s such a special place to live, study, and explore.

Buffs Charge to Victory at Folsom Field

The Colorado Buffaloes lit up Folsom Field on Saturday night with a commanding 37-20 win over Wyoming. The crowd roared as the Buffs offense clicked into high gear, led by quarterback Kaidon Salter, who passed for over 300 yards and three touchdowns. Add in a late rushing score and the Buffs proved they are a force to be reckoned with this season.

For fans and families alike, it was more than just a win — it was a chance to come together, fill the stands with black and gold, and celebrate the heart and pride that CU football brings to Boulder. With another home game against BYU on the horizon, the momentum is building.

Family Weekend: Tradition, Togetherness, and Buff Pride

Running September 18-21, Family Weekend gave parents, siblings, and loved ones the chance to immerse themselves in the CU Boulder experience. From architecture and campus history tours to open recreation and meditation sessions, families got a taste of the Buff lifestyle.

Saturday’s football game served as the centerpiece, but Sunday offered its own memorable moments. The Buff Family Stampede 5K Fun Run brought students and families out for a healthy start to the morning, followed by the Family Sendoff Brunch — the perfect way to wrap up a weekend of bonding, traditions, and new memories.

PorchFest Brings Music to the Streets

If football wasn’t your scene, Mapleton Hill’s PorchFest delivered a different kind of magic. More than 40 bands set up across 30 porches, turning the neighborhood into an open-air music festival. Food trucks and friendly crowds made it a quintessential Boulder event — lively, creative, and community-driven.

Community Assembly Sparks Local Conversation

Saturday morning also saw Boulder’s first Community Assembly, with discussions focused on creating “15-minute neighborhoods.” Residents gathered to share ideas on making daily life more walkable, sustainable, and connected. It was grassroots Boulder at its finest — neighbors talking with neighbors about shaping the city’s future.

Looking Ahead

With BYU coming to town next Saturday, excitement is already mounting for another packed house at Folsom Field. Add in the ripple effects of Family Weekend and PorchFest, and Boulder heads into the new week buzzing with energy.

As we say goodbye to Sunday night, one thing is clear: Boulder knows how to make every week memorable. Whether it’s through sports, music, family, or community dialogue, there’s always something worth celebrating.
