Boulder’s Food Scene Recognized in Prestigious James Beard Awards

Boulder’s Culinary Excellence Recognized: James Beard *Awards Semifinalists Announced

Boulder’s renowned food scene is receiving national attention yet again, with two local establishments earning semifinalist spots in the prestigious James Beard Awards. These honors underscore Boulder’s influence on Colorado’s reputation as a top culinary destination and celebrate the innovative talent within the community.

The James Beard Foundation, now in its 35th year, is a nonprofit that highlights excellence in the culinary arts. This year, the awards introduced new categories for bar, beverage, and cocktail service, reflecting the industry’s ongoing evolution. Colorado boasts 14 semifinalists across multiple categories, with Boulder standing out thanks to two iconic names:

  • Frasca Food and Wine (Outstanding Restaurant): As a cornerstone of Boulder’s fine dining scene, Frasca Food and Wine continues to set the standard for excellence. Known for its Italian-inspired cuisine, impeccable service, and award-winning wine program, Frasca’s nomination in the Outstanding Restaurant category reaffirms its status as a leader in the industry.
  • Hosea Rosenberg, Blackbelly (Best Chef): Hosea Rosenberg, a Boulder icon and former “Top Chef” winner, has been recognized for his innovative approach to farm-to-table dining at Blackbelly. With a focus on sustainability and locally sourced ingredients, Rosenberg’s work highlights Boulder’s unique culinary ethos and commitment to quality.

These nominations celebrate the passion, creativity, and dedication that define Boulder’s food culture. Frasca and Blackbelly not only showcase the city’s culinary excellence but also serve as a testament to the community’s ability to elevate dining experiences to an art form.
