Dushanbe Teahouse – Boulder, Colorado
Mayor Maksud Ikramov announced in 1987, during his first visit to Boulder, that Dushanbe planned to present our city with a Teahouse to commemorate the establishment of sister city ties. More than 40 Tajik artisans worked on the decorative elements of our Teahouse from 1987 to 1990, including the hand-carved and hand-painted ceiling, tables, stools, columns, and exterior ceramic panels. These abilities are frequently passed down from generation to generation within families. Lado Shanidze was the chief architect.
