Intercambio Uniting Communities in Boulder County
Intercambio Uniting Communities is a Boulder County based nonprofit dedicated to improving immigrant lives through English education, and uniting communities across cultures. We train local volunteers to teach English to adult immigrants, with a focus on community building and teaching relevant life skills for success in the US. Intercambio also hosts monthly community events that bring our diverse community together.
This year, Intercambio celebrates 15 years of service in the community having served over 10,000 adult learners. Intercambio students come from all over the world, but now call Boulder County home. They are parents, business owners, neighbors, and community members.
Volunteer teachers play an integral role in helping Intercambio students achieve their goals, and together form lasting, meaningful relationships, creating a stronger community.
Become a volunteer teacher!
Contrary to popular belief:
- You do not need to speak another language,
- You do not need previous teaching experience.
Intercambio trains community members to be highly successful English teachers. The training helps you understand the keys to teaching – whether you are working one-on-one or with a group.
The curriculum is easy to use. It is specifically designed for adult learners to be taught by non-experienced teachers.
Learn more about the volunteer commitment at one of our upcoming information sessions and be the spark for hardworking adult immigrants to communicate in English – transforming their lives.
