Perennial Boulder: Old Fashioned Daylilies (Hemerocallis Fulva)

Boulder is a perennial challenge. The winter’s lows can be VERY low for days at a time. Summer heat and desert dryness challenge everything that grows except cactus. In spite of the challenges, there are plants that are beautiful and perennial. Unlike annuals, as beautiful as they are, the perennials get planted once! I love the sound of that. Some plants that are perennial in other more forgiving environments cannot “over winter” in Boulder. Some, while not technically perennial, do “self-seed.” The seeds they drop grow the following year. We’ve had portulaca, moss roses, self-seed. Those happen to be one of my favorites. My favorite color is all of them.
