Ratio: Cultivating Carrot Craft Brews
Bopping my head to the easy beats of Twin Peaks’ “Making Breakfast,” I entered my first Colorado brewery, Ratio Beerworks. Entering a Colorado craft brewery was a moment I had been waiting for since the first time my lips touched the unique flavor of a brewmaster’s craft. It was the beginning of my road trip, last September, and I was just high off of life, driving as free as one could be through our chaotic, yet magnificent country. From Boston to Denver, it was pretty much a straight shot, so I was definitely ready to get a brew in me.
I stepped into a cluster of 80s vibes meets the modern streets, tied together with camaraderie and beer. The bright graffiti stretched across the walls of Ratio seemed to be in-sync with Twin Peaks’ tune I was jiving along to. I was already in love, and I hadn’t even tried the beer yet.
Well, a little over a year later, I’m back, and Ratio is even bolder, delving into flavors unheard of, like my new favorite, King of Carrot Flowers. Innovation at its best, this Carrot Elderflower Saison is not just for Neutral Milk Hotel fans, it’s one of the most scrumptious brews I’ve ever had the pleasure of trying. The carrot is true craft, teaming with that lighter Belgian aroma and the sweet undertones that creep in. If you’re feeling the fall, I would most definitely suggest the King of Carrot Flowers this harvest season!
