Boulder County Brewery Wins Several Great American Beer Festival Awards

The Great American Beer Festival awards medals to 25 Colorado breweries. Longmont’s Left Hand Brewing Co. was the big winner, taking home two medals, silver for its Milk Stout in the oatmeal stout category and bronze for its St. Vrain in the Belgian-style strong specialty ale category. It also won the coveted title of Brewery of the Year in the 15,000 to 100,000 barrel production range. The Great American Beer Festival features a beer competition in addition to the opportunity to sample fine beer. Anyone out there wondering what makes a nitro, a nitro? You are? Alright, well let me give you a little lesson with the help of the Left Hand Brewery. It’s no secret that Left Hand Brewing Co. is Number 1 when it comes to nitros, so I made my way up to Longmont to learn from the best. They sure did teach me a thing or two about these bodacious beers, and of course I had to test a few to grasp the full experience.
