Faces of Boulder – Pic of the Day!

Since 1987, the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program (RMRP) has provided life-saving raptor rescue, rehabilitation, and research, as well as transforming conservation education, to the northern Colorado region.

Every injured raptor in need of rehabilitation receives treatment from our community-based team of raptor rehabilitation specialists, Colorado State University vets, and highly skilled volunteers. We play a crucial part in conservation education, giving hands-on learning about different raptor species and the ecosystem, and our research helps safeguard raptors in the wild.

Our endeavor is an example of a group community effort that is dedicated to treating all raptor species humanely. The health of raptor birds and the ecosystem they share with us are nurtured and protected by our communities working together.

On the surface:

Every year, we normally accept 300 raptors for rehabilitation. Over 70% of cases that are curable are released back into the environment. Our rehabilitation, education, and research endeavors receive all the attention they require from twelve staff members and about 100 volunteers. The services provided by volunteers are equal to those of 22 full-time employees. Each year, contributions are made to more than a dozen research programs. We deliver environmental education for more than 225 days a year, reaching over 45,000 people.
