Stacker compiled a list of the highest-earning zip codes in Boulder, CO, using data from the US Census Bureau. Zip codes were mapped to cities using Simple Maps. To rank counties, the 5-year estimate median household income is used. Education and occupation have a significant impact on salary, but where a person lives can have a favorable or negative impact on their overall wages.

It’s not just about the tax rates and living costs in a particular place. According to a Brookings study, location determines a significant range in earnings: For example, the median income in Sebring, Florida is about $26,000, while the typical income in the San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara metro area in California is $65,000.
