Andrew Maloney: Compassion, Adaptability, and the Mountain He Built in Boulder

When you step into Jade Mountain Health, you don’t just walk into an acupuncture clinic—you feel a presence. Andrew Maloney, longtime acupuncturist and Boulder native, has built more than a practice. He’s created a living, breathing community of healing spaces.

Andrew lives by two core values: compassion and adaptability. You feel the compassion immediately. His big heart fills the room, and it’s no accident that this drew him into Chinese medicine in the first place. Andrew’s early life was shaped by loss. As a child, he faced more death and grief than most people see in a lifetime, including almost losing his mother at just 13. He remembers feeling powerless in the face of illness, injury, and aging. Those fears could have hardened him. Instead, they called him into a life of service.

Chinese medicine gave Andrew a way to turn compassion into action. For decades, patients have walked out of his treatment room more relaxed, balanced, and grateful for his mastery. I’ve known him long enough to say this with certainty: his work is effective. His blend of skill, presence, and heart is rare.

If compassion grounds Andrew, adaptability propels him forward. Early in his career, he was willing to experiment—listening to input, trying new approaches, and building a business model that is as creative as it is sustainable. He designed Jade Mountain Health not only as his acupuncture practice, but also as a home for other healers. West of Broadway on Poplar, his building holds multiple modalities under one roof. It’s a microcosm of Boulder’s healing community—therapists, bodyworkers, and other practitioners sharing a space that feels as solid and inspiring as the mountain it’s named after.

And yes, Jade Mountain is a real place. It’s one of the highest peaks in Taiwan, just shy of a Colorado fourteener. Andrew has climbed it more than once, and when he looked back on the name for his practice, he knew it fit. A mountain is a meeting place. It’s where seekers and guides gather. His office carries that same energy.

Andrew isn’t afraid to take risks. He quotes the Butthole Surfers’ line, “It’s better to regret something you have done, then to regret something you haven’t done.” For him, adaptability means moving forward instead of freezing in fear. He knows the danger of sitting idle, of letting opportunities expire. So he acts. He makes decisions. He creates space for others to heal, and he inspires people to do the same in their own lives.

That’s the heart of his leadership: compassion paired with bold action. He doesn’t just treat patients—he builds healing environments, invites others in, and models a way of living where values guide every choice.

“What I want Boulder to know,” Andrew says, “is that I’m always here for you. I grew up here, I came back here, and I want to be available—to welcome everyone with a smile, to make this community feel like home.”

Jade Mountain Health is more than a clinic. It’s Andrew’s life’s work: a place of compassion, adaptability, and risk-taking heart. And it’s right here in Boulder, ready to welcome you.
