Bear Season in Colorado – Aspen Man Swiped in Own Home
A resident in the Aspen area has been badly injured after being attacked by a bear this morning inside his own home. The bear broke right through the front door and got ahold of the man with a ‘paw swipe’ to the mans head and neck.
Aspen authorities used dogs to track down the bear, and euthanized it. There were multiple reports of this bear digging around trash in this area prior to the attack.
While bear attacks in Colorado are rare, Aspen region did have 3 last year. It is important to understand the risk factors when living or visiting bear country and to take the proper measures to mitigate these risks.
