Boulder Buzz: Weekend in Review + What’s Ahead (June 22–28)

If you’ve spent any time outside this weekend, you already know—Boulder brought the summer heat. From early-morning hikes to late-night music, it was a picture-perfect kickoff to the season. And now, as another big week rolls in, we’ve got your roundup of what just happened and what’s worth planning ahead for.

Weekend in Review

Saturday saw the return of the Flatiron Sounds Music Festival at Chautauqua, a free, community-centered outdoor celebration featuring a killer lineup of local musicians, artisan vendors, food trucks, and a laid-back beer garden. As the sun dropped behind the Flatirons, folks danced barefoot on the grass and toasted to summer. That’s classic Boulder.

Meanwhile, the Boulder Farmers’ Market was alive with local greens, flowers, and the unmistakable smell of sizzling breakfast burritos. There’s something deeply grounding about walking through the stalls along Boulder Creek on a sunny morning. If you didn’t make it this weekend—don’t worry. You’ve got two shots a week to catch it again.

Early risers hit Mount Sanitas and Flagstaff Mountain before the heat rolled in, catching golden hour views and that cool, quiet mountain air Boulderites know and love. Spruce Pool and Boulder Creek were packed with families, sunbathers, and tubers floating along before the fire advisories were issued later in the afternoon.

What’s Ahead This Week

Looking forward, here are two verified, can’t-miss events to mark on your calendar.

First up is Bands on the Bricks on Wednesday, June 25. This free concert series takes over Pearl Street Mall every Wednesday through July. Live music kicks off at 6 PM, but the beer garden opens at 5:30—so come early, grab a spot, and let the rhythm roll through downtown.

Then on Saturday, The 21st Annual Boulder Garden Tour invites you to explore a collection of stunning private gardens tucked away in the historic Mapleton Hill neighborhood. From native plant arrangements to permaculture-inspired layouts, this self-guided tour is a chance to see Boulder’s green thumbs at their best.

Bonus Buzz

Feeling spontaneous? Hit up the Chautauqua Summer Concert Series, which continues with a rotating lineup of musicians, films, and community talks under the stars. And of course, Boulder Farmers’ Market is still the best spot for local flavor—midweek or weekend.

Weather Outlook

Sunday brings hot, dry weather and a high of 88°F with elevated fire risk. Starting Monday, expect a shift—thunderstorms are likely through Wednesday (some may be strong). By Thursday, sunshine returns just in time for the weekend, with highs in the mid-80s to low 90s.

Want a fresh summer feel? Keep sunscreen and a reusable water bottle close—it’s Boulder in June. Let the music play, the gardens bloom, and your week begin.
