Boulder Snow Report: Updated Snow Totals, Snowpack Strength & Early-Season Outlook

Saturday Night Boulder Snow Update: Totals, Snowpack Conditions & Sunday Forecast

As of Saturday night, November 29, 2025, Boulder has wrapped up a light but meaningful early-season snow event. While the city itself only picked up a dusting, the mountains above town — the true drivers of our winter water supply — continue to perform extremely well. With another round of light snow possible overnight and into Sunday, here’s a complete look at where Boulder stands as we close out the final weekend of November.

Boulder Snow Totals (Nov 28–29 Storm)

This storm wasn’t a big one for the city, but it still added to the growing early-season momentum.

  • City of Boulder: 0.1 to 0.3 inches
  • Foothills: Light coatings with slick conditions in shaded areas
  • Eldora Mountain Resort: 3 inches of fresh snow in the last 24 hours

Tomorrow morning should bring updated totals, but no significant accumulation is expected inside the city.

Snow Water Equivalent (SWE): Boulder Is Ahead of Schedule

Even with minimal city snow, the mountains feeding Boulder’s watershed are thriving.

According to Colorado SNOTEL data from the NRCS Snow Survey, the Denver/Boulder watershed (South Platte River Basin) sits at 133% of its average SWE for this date. That number represents a strong and very healthy early-season snowpack — the kind that sets the tone for winter recreation, spring runoff, and fire mitigation heading into 2026.

Statewide, Colorado’s median SWE is 1.1 inches, based on data reported earlier this week.

Closer to the city, the lower-elevation Boulder snowpack is currently 57% of normal, but that figure is expected to rise as colder systems continue targeting the mountains. At this point in the season, a single well-timed storm can dramatically change the numbers, and November has already delivered several productive cold fronts for the region.

What to Expect Overnight & Sunday

Another wave of light snow is expected late tonight and into Sunday.

  • City of Boulder: A dusting to <1 inch
  • Foothills: Light accumulations possible
  • Mountains: 1–3 inches above 8,000 feet
  • Road Conditions: Watch for black ice on CO-119, Flagstaff Road, and higher mountain corridors

A more detailed hourly outlook is available from the National Weather Service Boulder.

Why These Numbers Matter

A strong early-season snowpack helps stabilize water supply, reduces early-season fire risk, and keeps Colorado’s ski areas running smoothly heading into December. For those of us who follow weather and local conditions in Boulder, this weekend’s numbers point to an encouraging start to winter.
