The 9NEWS Weather Impact Team issued a Weather Impact Alert as conditions became favorable for dangerous wind-driven impacts. While Boulder is no stranger to windy days, this event stood out due to the intensity of the gusts recorded at multiple locations in and around the city.

According to the National Weather Service office in Boulder, some of the strongest wind gusts in the state were measured within Boulder County during this event. The highest reported gust occurred at the NCAR Mesa Laboratory in south Boulder, where winds reached 109 miles per hour.

These wind speeds are well above typical gust levels and are strong enough to cause downed branches, flying debris, and hazardous travel conditions.
