Boulder’s Best: Sunrise or Sunset? Up Early? And a Fittilary!

Sunsets in Boulder get all of the credit. But is that rational, fair, and a good visual decision?
Photographers, painters, very fast weavers, and artists of all flavors have long known that the “golden hour,” the time of sunset and sunrise, produces a special light simply not present for the rest of the day. The low angle of the sun coupled with the special colors it brings forth provide for amazing pictures, whether photographed live, painted en pleine air, quickly outside of the scene as it presents itself, or from the imagination, imagine for example a picture of the Flatirons. Imagine it as sunrise as the sun lights up the famous Boulder formation, and then imagine it at noon. I know which hour I prefer for art lighting!
HOWEVER sometimes only a picture of a butterfly will do!
