Boulder’s Dog of the Day: Norman’s Green Ball and a Day in the Sun

Norman Soaks Up the Sunshine at His Favorite North Boulder Dog Parks

Meet Norman, today’s Boulder’s Dog of the Day—a proud North Boulder pup with one priority: never letting go of his beloved green ball. Whether he’s sprinting across open fields or trotting down a dirt path, Norman always carries that signature neon toy like it’s a badge of honor.

On this picture-perfect Boulder day—one of the city’s famed 300 days of sunshine each year—Norman is doing what he loves most: enjoying wide-open spaces, wagging his tail, and soaking in the fresh mountain air. His destination of choice? The dog-friendly havens tucked into the heart of North Boulder, where the trails are long, the grass is soft, and the creek is never too far away.

North Boulder offers some of the best off-leash and dog-friendly spaces in town. Valmont Dog Park, located just a short drive away, is a fully fenced, multi-acre gem with separate areas for big and small dogs, agility features, and plenty of room for a game of fetch—Norman’s specialty.

Closer to home, Norman is often spotted romping along the trails near Wonderland Lake, a quiet spot that mixes leash-required paths with tranquil water views and frequent squirrel sightings. He also loves Foothills Community Dog Park, where the views of the Flatirons meet an open, leash-free environment for play, sniffing, and socializing.

Another Norman-approved favorite? The Howard Heuston Off-Leash Dog Area, nestled along the edge of the Fourmile Creek area. This hidden gem is perfect for early morning romps or sunset strolls, with plenty of space for dogs to run while their humans enjoy the mountain backdrop.

Whether it’s a morning walk or a sunset fetch session, Norman lives the dream of every Boulder dog—access to open space, welcoming parks, and a ball that never leaves his mouth. With paws in the dirt and sunshine on his fur, Norman reminds us of the simple joy of play and the beauty of Boulder’s dog-loving spirit.

So here’s to Norman, his trusty green ball, and another unforgettable day in dog paradise.
