Boulder’s Halloween Heroes: Best Candy Bars??
Giving out candy for Halloween is an old tradition. But which candy will be the biggest hit with the youngsters? The practice can be traced to the ancient Celts, early Roman Catholics and 17th-century British politics. Trick-or-treating—setting off on Halloween night in costume and ringing doorbells to demand treats—has been a tradition in the United States and other countries for more than a century
Boulder’s Halloween Heroes: Best Candy Bars!
Starting with the tenth most popular candy treat, and finishing with the winner, the most popular treat, here’s the list. Personally I took my own advice from yesterday and we’re giving out coloring books and crayons. Amazon delivers on 10/30, and the cost is similar to or less than the cost of candy bars. The gift keeps on giving, and even if the coloring books are not loved, the 24 color crayon assortments will be used, appreciated, and are not sugar bombs. They are also as much fun for adults and older children, and offer an activity that can be shared with adults and children. For older kids and young adults, consider blank pads instead of coloring books. Personally I love both! If you have a neighborhood email listserv, consider sharing pics of some of the kids’ creations! Or sharing ALL of the pics! What youngster (or adult) would not smile at seeing their own artistic creation posted on the web?
10. Almond Joy
9. Milky Way
8. Hershey’s Bar
7. Butterfinger Bart Simpson disagrees with this all time favorite being only #7 when it should clearly be #1!
6. Sour Patch Kids
5. Twix
4. Kit Kat
3. Snickers
2. Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
1. M&M’s
This list counts down the candies that never fail to satisfy trick-or-treaters, with M&M’s taking the crown as the top Halloween treat! I would also consider peanut M&M’s, Baby Ruths if you can find them, and to get really extravagant and going gourmet, consider a dark chocolate almond candy bar. Individually wrapped candy is best, and parentally preferred for proper protection of our valued trick or treaters! We have a tradition of hot apple cider and a fire pit. Both have proved to be VERY popular. Kids and adults both love the offering
Have fun, be safe, and wear LIGHT COLORS!!! Consider clipping a small flashing bicycle light to your kidster’s back. There is no room for error when sending your kids out to play in traffic. And finally, the candy-seeking kids can be offered a choice of different top-ten treats!
