Faces of Boulder: Award-Winning Rock ‘n’ Roll Visionary Lisa Siciliano Through the Lens

Lisa Siciliano: Boulder’s Rock & Roll Photography Icon

For decades, Lisa Siciliano has been an indomitable force in capturing the essence of Boulder, channeling her unparalleled passion for music and photography into iconic images that resonate deeply with both rock stars and everyday moments. Officially launching her company, Dog Daze Photo, in 1998, Lisa began her journey in photography in a uniquely Boulder fashion—by multitasking as the original cocktail server at the legendary Fox Theater.

With her camera discreetly hidden atop the bar, she taught herself the art of concert photography during encores, driven by sheer determination and an eye for the extraordinary.

Her tenacity quickly paid off. Within just a year, she was hired as a house photographer at the world-renowned Red Rocks Amphitheater, where she went on to capture hundreds of electrifying shows.

Whether photographing legends like BB King and Dolly Parton or the countless other artists who have graced the stage, Lisa’s work has immortalized some of music’s most unforgettable moments.

Yet, if you ask her about her favorite performance, she’ll likely mention a deeply personal one—her 9-year-old daughter Isabella opening for Film on the Rocks with the School of Rock House Band.

Dog Daze Photo is truly a family affair. From the intimate process of developing her film (with Isabella’s nimble fingers spooling it in the dark bag and her husband Jacques mixing the chemicals due to Lisa’s dyslexia) to the annual rock & roll art show, “Rocking in a Winter Wonderland,” where Jacques and Isabella take the stage while Lisa unveils her latest prints, the Siciliano family is a creative powerhouse.

In 2019, Lisa launched the Lumin Project, a documentary series that sees her roaming the streets with her trusty 35mm film camera, ever ready to capture the beauty and quirkiness of the world around her.

When she’s not behind the lens, Lisa can be found embracing the adventurous spirit of Boulder—whether it’s paddle-boarding on a crystal-clear mountain lake, hiking through the stunning foothills, scootering around Denver with her family, or petting a random dog on Pearl Street. Her life and work embody the creative and vibrant soul of Boulder, inspiring those who view her photography to see the world with a renewed sense of wonder.
