This is Shammai, a sophomore at CU. Shammai was taking a break from her ceramics class to bask in the unusually warm sun outside of the VAC. Despite being in the Art and Sciences school she is till undecided. She has dabbled in woodwork, metal work, pottery and print making. I asked her where she’s from and she gave me an interesting answer. She said that after high school she took a gap year to move to Dresden in Germany to teach english to preschool kids. She lived there for about a year before returning to America to start school. I am myself weighing up my options post graduation and told her that I was thinking about teaching english in Mexico City. “Just do it” she told, “I learned more about my self in that one year than ever have here in the US.”
