Leadership Spotlight: Jane Seaton and the Living Practice of ArtLife in Boulder

Jane Seaton is an independent teacher, an artist, and a lifelong guide into the sacred territory of human creativity. Based in North Boulder, she offers programs, trainings, and one-on-one sessions that help people reconnect with their inner source of wisdom through art, image, color, and creative soul expression. Her work is not only for artists—it is for anyone seeking to live a more meaningful, vital life. Her work promotes ways in which all of us can live more meaningful, vital lives.

Jane Seaton is starting over—again and again. A newness keeps washing over her. In the aftermath of COVID, she is coming back with an urgency that marks the crowning phase of her life journey. Her life’s work has always been about assisting people—of all ages, identities, and walks of life—to awaken a fertile, vital part of themselves. To open a hidden mystery within. A part of the self not broken, but buried. Misunderstood. Unrecognized in our culture. Her mission is to help people reclaim this, because that reclamation brings “authentic meaning-making” back to life.

This isn’t theory. This is the soul in motion.

Jane guides others to meet their inner teacher—the inner source of wisdom, of support, of joy. She believes this part of us already exists, already knows. Her work is about helping people reenter that knowing, to rediscover the inborn, natural language of imagination: color, image, intuition, design, experimenting. The ways we build sacred objects—prayer sticks, collages, mixed media, mandalas, and more magic wands—as soul expressions. These are brought forth from the soul, especially to walk with us through times of danger and destabilization. To offer support. To counter the absence of sanity.

To stand in a time when, as William Butler Yeats wrote, “things fall apart and the center cannot hold.”

Jane’s crowning phase is potent. She is in her seventies now, and yet at two-and-a-half, she already knew she would teach art. At 23, she taught her first art class in London and called it “Art as a Celebration of You.” Four universities offered her teaching positions, and all of them fell through from timing issues. She’s glad they did. Her teaching doesn’t come from institutions. It comes through her. She channels it. It arrives from a source within and beyond, as if the teaching already exists and she simply steps into it.

The force behind her work is what she calls the Creatrix—a divine, universal power that helps people transform, grow, and own their place in the world. Jane teaches art not for aesthetics, but because it opens people to this level of help, to this way of becoming. In this crowning phase, she feels an urgency: to pass on what comes through her. To reach as many as she can. To leave a legacy for the sake of others’ discovery.

She also trains professional art teachers, artists, seekers—those who suspect their purpose includes igniting creativity in others. Her work reaches teachers, designers, entrepreneurs, and humans in every field. ArtLife is the dimension that she invites people into. For 28 years, she has called her business ArtLife; and it’s been her living inquiry into how the creative force expresses itself in our psyche, our relationships, how we dress, our parenting, our daily lives and business, our grief, and our joy.

Jane is now offering a range of ArtLife courses, from a weeknight collage class to ongoing programs, and a planned ArtLife Training which will show professionals how to pass on more creative concepts and practices to their own clients and maybe students. She has also long offered individual Creativity Coaching, to assist people to refind their creative mojo—and so bring creative exploring back into the heart of their lives.

Her top values are threefold: First, the endless, moment-by-moment journey of discovering what it means to be alive in human form—seen through the spiritual and psychological realms. Second, a profound dedication to the truth that there is no such thing as being alone—we are in this together, always. And third, the knowing that “we are actually nothing else other than the divine that we seek.” She swims in the depth of ‘why are we here’ and comes up with endless expressions of answers.

“Creativity needs to be understood as a primary form of healing in contemporary society!” This is Jane’s truth, and she lives it. Words come to her like feathers from the ceiling. She listens. She follows. And she offers.

Jane Seaton, PhD, runs her work out of her office in North Boulder. She leads long and short programs, teasers, deep dives, and ongoing classes. Her insights move through the practical—intuition, image, love, generosity, wisdom—out of theory and into life.

She wants Boulder to know: she is an independent teacher. Personally, Jane has been my teacher for over a decade. I find Business Coaching and Art Design a great compliment for my soul. The pieces I’ve made and framed and have up in my home always feel like a representation of the deep waters of transformation I move through due to my dedication to have regular conversations with my soul.

And to listen very carefully. Jane’s technique is always to pull out what’s already inside of me in a way I would not have found on my own. I can’t explain how she does it. Find out more or take a class with her.white feather on black background

This is her whole life’s work. And its crowning phase is an unfolding transmission of an invitation to all and any to step into the ArtLife that is ever awaiting us, within our hearts and Souls, already breathing within us all.
