• Blooms: The plant produces vibrant tubular flowers that can appear in colors like pink, red, or white, typically around winter holidays. But pay attention! They can be spotted or grown inside almost any time of year. 
   
• Stem Structure: Schlumbergera truncata (Thanksgiving cactus) has pointed, toothed stem segments, while Schlumbergera x buckleyi (true Christmas cactus) has smaller, rounded lobes. 
   
• Lighting Needs: They thrive in filtered, indirect sunlight, similar to their native forest environment. 
   
• Watering: It is important to keep the potting mix consistently moist but not soggy, especially during the blooming period. 

Thanks to the backlighting from the sun, this Christmas Cactus really pops and makes a great photo. Sometimes you have to get comfortable waiting for  the sun to get into the right position for outdoor flower pictures. It is worth the wait.  Sometimes you spot it and grab for your phone!
