One foot on the big stage

Mojomama finally got one foot on the big stage last weekend.

At The Levitt Pavilion in Denver’s Ruby park, opening for legendary artist Melvin Seals & JGB on August 24th.

We have graced many stages over the last two decades. Some are fabulous like eTown hall, or the Brighton armory and the Greeley blues jam . Some are make shift in the corner of a crowded bar. Others are a temporary pop up festival style on a concrete pads. We have even played on the back of a flatbed truck. Wherever we perform we give it our all.

The opportunity for an independent artist to play the big stage is rare these days. Stages that are built for one purpose, to perform music with a big sound system and professional lighting and production. There is a certain feeling when you step one foot onto that big stage. Looking out seeing happy dancing music fans cheering you on and absorbing your musical vibe is inspiring.

Mojomama has been striving to play in front of touring artist to broaden our audience. We create original music with familiar sounds blending our influences to connect with music lovers of all ages. The opportunity to work with Levitt Pavilion is one we have been pursuing ever since they opened in 2017. We are very grateful for the chance to open for legendary artist Melvin Seals who was the keyboardist for the Jerry Garcia Band from the 1980 to 1995.

Our show even made it on to an Internet Archive music site. Here music fans record shows from the audience on their own and post on the site. Just like the good old Grateful Dead Tapers, we are honored to be on the site, our 1st Bootleg listing. Find it here.

Levitt Pavilion is an anomaly in a music scene where opening for major touring acts is hard to come by as an independent artist. They believe in embracing local musicians, staff , artists, and sponsors. Levitt Pavilion Denver is a non profit organization who’s mission is to build community through music providing free concerts , nation wide in 45 city’s across the country. Make sure to support local talent and this fabulous organization.

Go West to find your groove

This is a story of how two east coast musicians found love, music and community in Boulder Colorado.

Mojomama has been a force on the Boulder music scene since 2002. The founding members Paul and Jessica Rogalski meet in a local cover band in 2000 playing clubs and weddings all over Colorado. Together they were bonded by a love of creating music and performing from an authentic perspective. Mojomama has evolved over their 20 plus years, writing arranging and producing 7 original albums . Putting roots down in Longmont they opened a school for music in 2007 to inspire others to follow their passion for music. The pair has struck a balance between playing live performances on weekends and teaching their students during the week. Mojo’s music academy also creates jobs for hard working local musicians who are passionate about teaching and performing in our community. They currently have 12 teachers ,providing voice, guitar, bass, piano, drums, violin, viola, cello, and ukulele. The mission is “Building community through music education”. In retrospect we have made some of our deepest bonds and friendships by sharing our talents and skills with like minded individuals. Although, taking the show on the road wasn’t in the cards for Mojomama, we strive to be true to ourselves and our original music while educating and inspiring others. Mojomama continues to entertain crowds at festivals, and local music venues. The band plans on creating a new album of original music they call “Funked up blues”.
