Insects are always a nuisance. They fly around, making noise and generally being pests. But insects can be especially annoying in the summertime when they are more prevalent outside. It is important to know how to get rid of insects during the summer so that you can enjoy your time outdoors without worrying about insects flying into your space. In this article, we’ll discuss several ways to keep insects away!

Use a bug spray

You can keep insects away by using bug spray. There are many types of sprays, some use chemicals to kill insects and others use natural ingredients that repel insects. You should decide on the type you want before buying anything so that it will be effective for you.

Natural products that work well are ones with citrus oils and cedar extract. These insects do not like these smells so it will help keep them away from your home when they smell them. Even when using natural repellents, make sure you use professional mosquito spray and not something of a suspicious origin. When it comes to chemicals in bug sprays, they can be effective for killing insects in the short run, but you don’t want to use those if you have pets or children.

The best times to apply insect repellant is in the early evening or at night when insects come out because they’re attracted to light and heat sources like your body. But spraying during daytime hours may offer protection as well with an aerosol version which contains sunscreen built into its formula – this would work great if you spend any amount of time outdoors especially if you have sensitive skin or tend to burn easily even after applying sunblock.

Keep your home clean

You should keep your home clean, as insects are attracted to clutter and dust. Make sure you put away all of the food in your kitchen cabinets or closets so that insects don’t find it. Vacuum often with a vacuum cleaner bag at least once every week to remove pet hair and other debris that may be attracting insects. Also, clean any spills on countertops immediately so they do not attract bugs to feast on them for days afterward (bugs love spilled syrup).

If bugs are coming inside from somewhere else like plants on your windowsill then be mindful when watering these to avoid spritzing insects directly. If they come indoors anyway don’t panic! Follow these two steps: 1. kill any insects that may be already there by vacuuming over all surfaces including underneath furniture, and 2. spray anticoagulant aerosols on walls where insects enter – even cracks and crevices area few insects can enter through.

Keep your house well-ventilated

One of the best ways to get rid of insects is by ventilating your house. Keep windows open and use an air conditioner, if possible. Also, use a vacuum cleaner to suck insects from your floor and ceiling.

Make sure windows are always closed at night time. The insects need fresh air during the day, so it is best not to close them during this time of day. However, keep in mind that insects can enter your house while you’re sleeping if they find an open window, door, or any sort of opening.

Use an insect repellent with DEET for outdoor protection against bugs

Using a repellent with DEET will help to keep bugs away from you. DEET can be applied either directly on your skin or onto clothing as long as it is not exposed to light for more than 12 hours before being rewrapped tightly.

If insects are a major problem when you are outside, try using one product that contains both insect repellent and sunscreen in order to protect against two common summertime hazards.

Seal off cracks and crevices where pests may enter your house from outside

Small cracks in your doors or windows, around pipes, and wires, can allow pests to enter your house. Use caulk or silicone sealant to close off these cracks in order to keep them out of the home.

Furthermore, make sure to seal off any holes that are on the bottom of windows and doors.

Clean out all drains and gutters to remove standing water that attracts mosquitoes

Drains are an important part of your exterior home maintenance. If you have standing water in any drain or gutter on the outside of your house, it must be emptied and cleaned as soon as possible. Standing water is a breeding ground for mosquitoes that can carry dangerous diseases like the West Nile virus.

Besides drains, keep all outdoor trash bins tightly sealed to eliminate food sources for many insects such as ants and cockroaches.

When you are outdoors make sure there isn’t any food around – don’t leave anything out that will attract bugs! Even if it’s just during breakfast time when leftovers might still be scattered on the table from last night, put them away so they won’t become tomorrow’s meal for pesky pests looking to feast on crumbs.

Take out the trash regularly so you can avoid attracting more bugs

To get rid of flies, keep trash cans away from areas where people eat and drink. Garbage should be taken out in the morning so that pests aren’t attracted at night when they are most active.

Use steel wool around exterior doors to prevent bees from entering homes or buildings through cracks between door frames and walls. Steel wool can also be used inside houses near entryways as a temporary barrier against flying insects until screens can be installed on windows and doors for better protection.

There are many different ways you can use to protect yourself from bugs, but all of them require some effort on your part. The best way is to take preventive measures. Knowing how pests enter the home and where they like to hide will help you avoid an infestation in the first place. Remember, a little prevention goes a long way! Make it your mission this summer to be proactive about keeping your family safe from unwanted insect visitors by using these tips when possible (and don’t forget the bug spray!). Good luck!
