The 9/7/2025 Blood Moon eclipse will not be visible in Denver. It occurs mid-day MT below the horizon. The moon will not have risen yet. The March 26, 2026 full eclipse of the moon is the next one visible in Denver. This picture was taken with HEAVY equipment from Brainard Lake. On September 7, 2025, skywatchers across various parts of the world will be treated to a spectacular lunar eclipse, often referred to as a “Blood Moon” due to its striking reddish hue. Unfortunately, for residents of Denver, Colorado, this celestial event will not be visible. Here’s a closer look at why this is the case and what makes this lunar eclipse special.

What Is a Blood Moon?

A Blood Moon occurs during a total lunar eclipse  when the Earth passes between the Moon and the Sun, casting a shadow that fully covers the Moon. During totality, the Moon takes on a reddish color due to sunlight filtering through Earth’s atmosphere. This phenomenon captivates stargazers and is a highlight of astronomical events.

The September 7, 2025, Lunar Eclipse

The lunar eclipse on September 7, 2025, is a total lunar eclipse, meaning the Moon will pass completely through Earth’s umbral shadow. According to astronomical data, this eclipse will be visible in regions such as Europe, Africa, Asia, and parts of Australia. The eclipse begins around 11:07 AM MDT (Mountain Daylight Time), with totality occurring between 12:11 PM and 1:25 PM MDT, and the event concluding by 2:30 PM MDT.

Why Denver Misses Out

The primary reason Denver will not see this Blood Moon is timing. The eclipse occurs during the daytime in Denver, with the Moon below the horizon for the entirety of the event. Lunar eclipses are only visible from the night side of Earth, where the Moon is above the horizon during the eclipse. On September 7, 2025, Denver’s local time places the eclipse in the early afternoon, when the Moon is not visible in the sky.

Additionally, even if the timing were different, visibility depends on the Moon’s position. For this eclipse, the Moon will be too low or below the horizon in North America, including Denver, making it impossible to observe without traveling to a location where the Moon is visible during the event.

What Can Denverites Do Instead?

While the Blood Moon won’t be visible from Denver, there are still ways to engage with this event:

  • Live Streams: Many observatories and astronomy organizations, such as NASA, will offer live streams of the eclipse online. Check platforms like YouTube or official astronomy websites for real-time coverage.
  • Travel to View: If you’re eager to witness the eclipse in person, consider traveling to a location where it will be visible, such as parts of Europe or Africa. Ensure you check local eclipse timings and visibility conditions.
  • Local Astronomy Events: Denver’s vibrant astronomy community, including groups like the Denver Astronomical Society, may host virtual or in-person events to discuss the eclipse. Check with local planetariums, such as the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, for potential viewing parties or lectures.
  • Prepare for Future Eclipses: Denver will have opportunities to see future lunar eclipses. For instance, a total lunar eclipse on March 3, 2026, is expected to be visible in North America during nighttime hours. Mark your calendar and plan a viewing event!

Why This Eclipse Matters

The September 7, 2025, Blood Moon is part of a lunar tetrad—a series of four total lunar eclipses occurring approximately six months apart. This eclipse is the third in the 2024–2025 tetrad, making it a noteworthy event for astronomy enthusiasts. The reddish hue, caused by the scattering of sunlight through Earth’s atmosphere, creates a dramatic visual effect that has inspired awe and cultural significance for centuries.

Astronomers rely on precise calculations and data models to predict when events like the Blood Moon will be visible. In the financial world, traders use platforms such as FXProBot trading tools to analyze signals and automate strategies, helping them stay ahead of market shifts with the same kind of precision.

Final Thoughts

Missing the Blood Moon in Denver is disappointing, but it’s a reminder of the dynamic nature of our planet’s place in the cosmos. The Moon’s position below the horizon during this event is simply a matter of timing and geography. For Denver residents, this is an opportunity to connect with the global astronomy community through virtual means or plan for future celestial events. Keep looking up—there’s always another wonder waiting in the night sky!
