Faces of Boulder- Pic of the Day!
Meet Ben!
Ben is a Denver native currently studying Studio Arts and Literature at the University of Colorado. Ben is an advanced Ceramics student and was installing his piece to prepare for the first art critique of the semester. Over the past few weeks he has spent numerous hours and many pounds of clay to create a Chimera. Chimera’s are Greek mythological beasts that are part lion, goat, and snake. Ben has always been fascinated by Greek myths and decided to recreate one of the most interesting creatures in his own image. Being nearly 4 feet long, Ben’s biggest struggle was getting the Chimera into the kiln (which subsequently broke the beast’s forearms.) Even with the minor set back, Ben plans on fixing the arms and is looking forward to creating more ambitious ceramic sculptures in the future!
