We Can’t Fire John Elway – But Here’s Ten Things We Could Do

October 11th, 2019

With two Super Bowl rings as a starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos and one more as a General Manager, it seems that no one has the desire or the cajones to fire John Elway. It’s understandable. The man is a walking legend, a Hall-of-Famer, the face of the franchise, and the greatest quarterback in Bronco history.  The Drive.  The helicopter. This one’s for John! But let’s be honest.  Since winning the Super Bowl in 2015, our legend has been less than legendary.  Since that time, Denver has gone 21-32 with no playoff appearances, is off to a 1-4 start this season, and as currently... Read More

Empower Field at Mile High? – 20 Better Suggestions

September 13th, 2019

Just recently, the Denver Broncos announced the new name for their football stadium.  From here on out, the stadium which was once deemed Sports Authority Field by many, and Mile High by most, will now be called Empower Field at Mile High, after a Financial Services company from Greenwood Village wrote a big check for the naming rights. Naming Rights for a stadium in Colorado isn’t as easy as people think.  What comes to mind when you think of Colorado?  What players or ownership deserve recognition?  Who will pay big money?  And what do the fans really want? I came up with twenty suggestions... Read More

Ten Reasons We Hate Tom Brady

November 14th, 2017

Any hope of salvaging the Broncos season was erased within the first few minutes late Sunday night at Mile High. Denver rookie Isaiah McKenzie turned the ball over after failing to field a punt in what would end up being an atrocious night for the entire special teams unit. Tom Brady stepped on the field moments after to seal our fate. A lost game and a lost season is bad enough, but losing to New England and Tom Brady just compounds the pain. Here are ten reasons we hate Tom Brady. 1) Looks – With his perfect hair, white teeth, and chiseled face, Brady reminds us of every frat boy that... Read More

Denver’s QB Blame Game – This One’s For John

October 31st, 2017

John Elway is a Hall-of-Fame legend, the face of the Denver Broncos, and the mastermind that lured Peyton Manning to Denver, eventually leading to a Championship four years later. As the Broncos struggle at 3-4 despite a Super Bowl caliber defense, most of the blame seems to be targeted on quarterback Trevor Siemian and Monday night’s three interception performance didn’t help. But if we are playing the blame game, this one’s for John. When John Elway rejoined the Denver Broncos back in 2011 as the Vice President of Operations a few things were obvious. Josh McDaniels had left a mess,... Read More

The Return of Brock Osweiler

September 12th, 2017

It seemed like a fairy tale. Draft the young 6’7, 240 lbs. quarterback with immense potential and a rocket arm, and let him sit on the bench and learn the position from a living legend until his moment arrives. When John Elway chose Brock Osweiler in the second round of the 2012 draft to be Peyton Manning’s heir apparent, chapter one had begun. Osweiler practically showed up on his white horse three years later as he gallantly stepped in for an injured and aging Manning, won some crucial starts, and prepared for his first playoff game. That is where the fairy tale turned into a Greek tragedy,... Read More

John Fox Isn’t the Answer, He’s the Problem

November 17th, 2014

If Denver Broncos fans wanted any indicator of how their team would perform in big games under head coach John Fox and new NFL legend QB Peyton Manning, five games into the 2012 season they got their answer. When the Broncos went 0-3 against the Atlanta Falcons, Houston Texans, and New England Patriots, teams whose records would go on to be 14-2, 12-4, and 12-4 respectively, Fox and Manning were just continuing the trend they had become known for in Carolina and Indianapolis: losing the games that mattered. In 2003, in only his second year, Fox led the Panthers to a Super Bowl appearance against... Read More

Boulder Gets Set for the Super Bowl

February 1st, 2014

After a bye week that’s felt more like a bye month, the big game is now only a day away. Waiting for this game has been like waiting for Christmas all over again, only this time instead of watching our relatives stuff themselves with food, we’ll get to watch burly men tackle the stuffing out of each other. Here in Boulder, the energy and excitement is palpable; orange and blue flags have been unfurled in homes and storefronts all over town, folks are proudly sporting their Broncos jerseys (under their winter coats, of course) and talk of Sunday’s game can be heard everywhere. Even Governor... Read More
