March 3rd, 2024

In Boulder, we’re fortunate to have a health-centered community that supports us in breathing through life’s ups and downs. Boulder is a place where the mountains meet the sky, and the air itself seems to offer healing. This was especially true for me during a recent personal challenge that shook me deeply. I found solace in the support of Callie Taylor, a friend and local health coach, who helped me find my way back to my path, one breath at a time. Callie shared a breathing exercise that brought immediate relief to my heart, helping me release the grief I was carrying. It was... Read More

Getting Set for BolderBoulder

May 20th, 2023

There’s a reason that every year, over 50,000 people flock to Boulder, Colorado to run 6.2 miles. It might have something to do with the fact that Boulder is an awesome city or maybe some folks enjoy a bit of fitness every once in a while… But mostly I think it’s because they know that the BolderBoulder 10k is the most fun you’ll have while running all year long! Teaching yoga to veterans became a way to connect my two worlds and give back to the community that has selflessly given so much to all of us. In March 2013, I started a yoga program at the Boulder Veterans Center... Read More

How 22 Pushups Could Save a Veteran’s Life

November 11th, 2017

It’s Veteran’s Day. This day, we as a nation, have set aside to honor our veterans for their service, their families for their sacrifices, and all those whose live’s have been touched by the tragic effects of war. Many of us have known a family member, friend, or co-worker who has served for our country. My grandfather is a veteran of the US Army who fought in the Korean War. My father is a disabled US Air Force veteran, and I have a very close friend, who I consider a brother, currently serving in the Army, overseas in the Middle East. In my previous life of finance, back in Missouri, I... Read More

Every Day is Veterans Day

November 10th, 2015
veterans day parade

If you are a federal or bank employee, student or teacher, you’re among the lucky few who get a work holiday on November 11. If you are a veteran who doesn’t hold one of these positions, chances are you’ll be working. So if veterans don’t get the day off on Veterans Day, what is it for? Why do we celebrate Veterans Day? The ceasefire of World War I happened on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month in 1918. To honor the veterans of this war and remember those we lost, November 11 (Armistice Day) became a national holiday in 1938, and in 1954 Veterans Day became... Read More
