The Real Miracles of St. Patrick and his Dogs
Patrick’s journey began when he was 16 years old. Captured by Irish pirates headed by the warlike king Niall of the Nine Hostages, Patrick lived half-naked on a mountain called Slemish, with just a dog and a few sheep for company. He had to put up with this life for over seven years. His favorite sheepdog appeared as an angel in a dream one night, telling him to flee to a ship 200 miles away, a ship from Gaul loaded with Irish Wolfhounds. Patrick followed his dream and arrived to the ship, soaked to the skin, tired, and pleading to be allowed on board.
