With a creative eye and the desire to capture life's striking moments, Brooke started to build her skill in photography. It started with a Bachelors Degree in Digital Media from Lee University and has now turned into Freelance work of all occurrences.
As a multimedia professional with more than 5 years of experience, she’s worked for Traveling Studios, Mintwood Photo Co, Vineyard Chic Kitchens, YMCA, Tour Edge Golf, Imago Photography, and Lee University Media. Her engagement and lifestyle photography has been featured on Wedding Guide Chicago and multimarz.com.
When she’s not snapping or creating photo posts for small businesses and bloggers you can find her, short term road tripping, cheering on the Chicago Blackhawks, jamming to present-day music, and throwing the Frisbee around.
Possibly the most demanded and powerful strength she could ever hope to have when it comes to making herself successful is the ability to form resilient relationships. Photography and relationships go hand in hand.

Humans have always had a complicated relationship with weather. Ancient cultures prayed and made offerings to gods in hopes of receiving conditions conducive to growing crops. Adverse weather, then, was often interpreted as displeasure on behalf of those same beings—a punishment for failing to observe proper rituals. It doesn’t take a history scholar to understand this impulse. Weather, now as then, is both an enemy and ally. On one hand, it provides everything from the raw material for food—sunlight driving photosynthesis, wind the primary method of plants spreading their seeds—to …

Sometimes, writing about art and theater feels a lot like falling down the proverbial rabbit hole as I try to find the angle to write about wandering through a haunted-theater immersive experience, getting splashed in a Halloween horror show in the basement of a spaghetti emporium, sweating through a DIY D&D in a comic shop, savoring (har har!) Sweeney Todd’s enraged high notes, and trying to quiet my howling dog in a public house. I’ve found myself in some odd and awkward scenarios. To update the metaphor, writing this column is a lot like drunk-clicking through an endless algorithm o…

"The toughest decision of my life was whether or not to break from my comfort zone and move to a new city. I was sick of the status quo and felt uninspired by the same old environment I had seen all of my life. I felt like I was stagnating and not striving to pursue my passions. It was difficult to leave my hometown where I knew I was safe and had good friends and a solid support network. I didn't know a lot of things, where I would live, how I would make new friends, if i'd be happy here... But I knew it was worth the risk. Life is all about making decisions. Whether it’s which photo is bet…

“I don’t like acknowledging my problems, because I know acknowledging them means I need to deal with them. It’s interesting how we can have good intentions but fail anyway. The truth hurts but it’s redemptive. The song, ‘Great Escape’ by Patrick Watson, is a great description of how I handle facing my problems.” – Eric Carlson

"I try to take a photo of myself every time I’m going through an intense emotion. I take these portraits because it’s congruent. What I’m seeing on the surface is what’s in tune in the inside. Taking a portrait allows me to witness my emotions. It’s important for us to embody our emotions but not let them define us." – AJ Delp

"The entirety of my body, mind, and soul is different. The past five month’s here in Colorado have been astronomically sympathetic and it starts and ends with health. I owe it to Colorado for restoring and healing my heart. Recommendations & Things Learned: i. Colorado weather is better than brunch. ii. I’ve memorized over 100 sunrises and sunsets and it trumps sleeping in. iii. If you can cook every night, do it. iv. Friendships are like dog hair to a lint roller. They’re fricken important, okay? v. Go to bed early and wake up the same. vi. Wearing an actual win…

“This is my own haircut and this is my own beard trim. I did it all with scissors. I studied that stuff all my life. I studied to be a barber, but I never got a job at it because it doesn’t pay no money. My Grandfather kept me out of it. My grandfather lived to be 87 years old. My father died before I was born, so I was raised by my grandfather. My grandfather said, ‘the most important thing when you get depressed and you’re down on your luck, is to stick in there man.’ I went along with my grandfathers wishes after I got older. His wishes were that I got a job, which I did. His…
