What’s On the Cannabis Menu?

September 11th, 2023

What is on the cannabis menu tonight? There is so much to look at when going into a cannabis dispensary it is tough to decide where to start. You have never been into a cannabis shop, you have been waiting in line for half an hour, and now you are at the counter. Although you have looked at the menu since you walked in you are so overwhelmed by what you are looking at you have no idea what to choose. What does ten milligrams mean, conversely why are some things one hundred milligrams? You have smoked weed for years but since you have lived in an area of the country where this stuff is illegal there... Read More

Cannabis Is Not Alcohol

July 23rd, 2023

As the budtender, I get in a lot of conversations about why cannabis should be legal. One common argument made is that cannabis should be legal because alcohol is legal. To start with, marijuana should not be legal just because another thing is legal. Marijuana, oops I mean cannabis, should be legal because it is a benefit for humans. We all understand why this argument gets made though, alcohol and cannabis are both substances that get you a little impaired and can affect your judgment. In our society, they are two of our social norms for changing the mindset and relaxing, but they are very different... Read More

Cannabis Capital

May 6th, 2020

Do you want to be a better budtender? Then go to Amsterdam. Working in the industry in America with knowledge of the old world is priceless and it can be a good way to reconnect with cannabis if you are a long-time budtender. After a time, so much weed goes through your hands that it can start to become just another commodity. It is easy to get in a rut, and it is easy to forget how much you love this plant when you find yourself cranking it out daily at work. Visiting the city can provide a memorable and immersive learning experience that can provoke imagination, introduce unknown subject matter,... Read More

Walking the Walk

January 8th, 2018

A few weeks ago, I wrote a blog regarding the differences between addiction and dependence. I published it on social media and received some negative comments. That is what people on social media like to do but it got me thinking. They were accusing me of talking the talk but not walking the walk. In the article, I mentioned how quitting weed was not very hard for me and I do it every now and then just to be able to continue to prove that to myself. I thought I had offered a pretty decent article and I was encouraging anyone who did not think they could quit to just try it, to breathe, to drink... Read More

What Are You Dankful for This Year?

November 29th, 2017

This article may come at you a little late this year, being that Thanksgiving was last week, but it is never too late to be thankful, or dankful this season. I normally like to use this column as an outlet to bemoan about something that most people would bend over backward for. It can be fun to sit back and air my grievances about the weed industry, after all, it is the landscape I see every day. Fortunately, the industry I work in is hot right now, so it affords me this outlet. No grievances today though, just love. I am dankful for all the amazing growers out there. Indoor farmers and outdoor... Read More

Chiefton Supply Co.

November 21st, 2017

As an aging weed smoker, I cannot continue to wear clothes that have giant weed leaves on them. Like all fading trends, I need to retire my Wu Wear and Seedless clothing at some point for something that is a little more current. Plus, I am an adult; and as the weed industry matures so must the clothing that goes with it. A brand of cannabis-inspired clothing called Chiefton is here to fill that void. Chiefton Supply Co. is a cannabis-inspired clothing company that represents the culture while not being in your face about things. They allow cannabis users the opportunity to represent the industry... Read More

Cannabis Is Not A Partisan Issue

November 13th, 2017

The hot topic up at the bud bar this week did not involve the most fire strain of weed, nor was it about the best new edible on the shelf. It was not about what state would be going legal next or what concentrate process created the most potent dab. It was about a Gallup poll that showed marijuana legalization is currently supported by more Republicans than ever. Why should this surprise anyone? Marijuana is not mentioned in the Constitution and it is not mentioned in the Bible. Marijuana does not hurt or go against any of our cultural values. Marijuana has nothing to do with abortion and marijuana... Read More

Been Dabbin’ With the Dipper!

November 7th, 2017

Concentrates are so expensive, and I would like to find a way to dab it and not lose a portion of it on my fingers, or have it run down the side of my vaporizer pen. I would like a device that allows me to take a clean dose of my powerful medicine and I would like it to consistently work just as well as it did the first time. After years of dealing with low-end products that do not last more than a few months and a few gimmicks, I am ready for a little ease. Enter the Dipper by Dipstick Vapes. Although the market these days is flooded with devices for dabbing, rarely does one find a device that... Read More

CBDeez Healthy Remedies

October 31st, 2017

It is very likely that part of the reason why marijuana reform is sweeping the country and legalization is being discussed in most states is due to the medicinal benefits of an active ingredient in cannabis called cannabidiol (CBD). CBD is one of over many compounds found in cannabis that belong to a class of molecules called cannabinoids. For lack of a better example, cannabinoids are like “ingredients” in a cannabis plant. Like THC, CBD is an active cannabinoid in the marijuana plant, only CBD is non-psychoactive. CBD does not cause a high. We are all beginning to see that cannabis is not... Read More
