I’m Back Baby!

October 2nd, 2017

I’m Back Baby! I seemed to have ruffled a few feathers in my last post. So, this week I am going to dial it back a little and keep it light. This week I have been racking my brain about what to write so instead of making it about something controversial, like leaving a gratis for someone who helped you, I will consider some other options. Do I try to tackle the subject of indica versus sativa and do they really exist and matter? Yes, they do but why? The new trend is to discuss how everything is really just a hybrid or a sativa, and nothing is a landrace anymore.  However, many people say that... Read More

The Cannabis Industry is Bringing Change, Feel Free to Leave It

September 26th, 2017

I do not want to get off on a rant here but why would you not tip someone who just helped you out, especially if you are someone who knows nothing about cannabis? There may be some confusion on the issue of tipping your budtender so I am going to clear things up. I understand that most folks who come into a weed shop are spending a good deal of money and I am not asking you to drop twenty percent of your bill, it is not like we are your bartender or anything. When someone is spending a good deal of money already it is hard to want to throw down a little extra for the person who just helped you.... Read More

The More I Know, The More I Realize I Know Nothing…About Weed

September 18th, 2017

Do you have any friends that work in the weed industry? How many of them have degrees from The Cannabis University? None, because I just made that up, no such place exists. We are not healthcare professionals, we have no real training. I am just a dude who loves cannabis and I am standing on the other side of the counter from you. So then why is it that an abundance of folks who get a badge to work in this industry suddenly know way more than everyone else when they put that badge around their neck? What research have they done that would involve anything more than a closet grow or hotboxing their... Read More

Discretion Is Key When Traveling with Weed

September 11th, 2017

You know that dreaded feeling you get after you book a flight somewhere. How am I going to get my weed there? I always consider it right after I hit the accept button on my flight. For some reason, up until then, I have failed to really consider it. I enjoy smoking a big joint at home so no doubt I will want to enjoy smoking a fat doobie on the shores of the lovely island vacation I am about to go on. If you are traveling home for Thanksgiving with the family there is no place on earth where cannabis is more required. The thing about traveling with weed is that it is still illegal and for the most... Read More

Dispensaries On The Cheap

September 4th, 2017

Remember back when weed was illegal and you used to have to go to somebody’s house to get it? It was never quick or easy. Since you were “friends” with your weed dealer you were always forced to listen to the new cd they just recorded or you had to go check out the new dirt bike they just bought. Maybe even roll up something to share with them? Other times they would not answer their phone for three days, you had to meet them somewhere sketchy, or you got a light bag full of seeds and stems. WTF bro? It was always a process, added to the fact that it was illegal so if you were caught by the... Read More

Will Prohibition Return?

August 28th, 2017

In addition to the barrage of questions that customers ask regarding the effects of indicas, sativas and hybrids there is another question that comes up a great deal when people come visit me at the bud bar. Yes, we have the damn gummies alright. I kid, but not really. What they ask is concerning how legalization will maintain under our current administration and whether or not, after all this progress, will there be someone who decides to take it all away from us? They usually pose it with a simple starting off point, “how about that Sessions huh?”. Jeff Sessions may be saying all this nonsense... Read More

For Those Who Want to Lead, Find Some Weed

August 21st, 2017

Looking at the world around me right now I have noticed, as I am sure many of you have, that people are angry. Just so happens there is an excellent relief for aggression out there. It can help people to chill out that temper a little bit and perhaps even rethink some of those rash decisions. I will give you one guess what it is. What is making folks so angry anyway? It could be lack of equality or the fact that many people’s voices are not being heard. It could be religious and cultural differences. It could also be that many people, especially those in the United States, are extremely misinformed.... Read More

710 Dabbing Day

July 11th, 2017

The following quote is to be read in your best stoner voice. “Duuuuude, I have an idea for the newest holiday in the cannabis world bro. OK, so let me tell you how we are gonna do it. OK, since we love taking oil dabs we will take that word “OIL” and read it backwards for some reason. Wait, wait, wait that is not right. Ok I got it. When it is turned upside down and backwards it looks like it now says the numbers “710” right? Just follow along it will make sense, you are going to love this next part bro. 710 will refer to 7/10, or July the tenth. Now on July tenth every year we are going... Read More

Dependence Day

July 3rd, 2017

When you are on the pro-marijuana side of things it is hard to admit if there is any risk to using it. Both sides debate potential hazards of cannabis, but the topic of addiction rarely comes up. Are you addicted to weed? If your significant other, a job, or your parents asked you to stop do you think you could do it? The answer is yes you can do it because you are not addicted to weed. Weed fills the void when life gets a little mundane is all, and what some of us can develop from using it over time is a slight weed-dependent mindset. Quitting is simple, if you want to quit you got this. Don’t... Read More

The Media’s Credibility Is Going Up In Smoke

June 27th, 2017

The way a media outlet frames a story is essential and can influence our understanding of it. Their version of a story can affect public opinion or generate awareness in a community. Historically they have been the ones to deliver the facts, less so when the topic of cannabis comes up though. By now we all realize that marijuana is not the harmful substance the last few generations believed it to be. I would wager that most of our nightly news correspondents have even tried it. So, if we are all on the same page about this stuff, then why does the media treat it so flippantly? The media seems incapable... Read More
