Savor the Flavor at Avery
Searching for a place to down some incredible beers, all while savoring a succulent meal? Then you’ve got to check out the Avery Brewing Company. I’m sure you’ve already had a taste of their two most popular beers, White Rascal & Avery’s IPA – they’re in just about every bar in town! Well, they’ve got plenty more brews on tap, offering a diverse variety to pair with any entree on their menu.
Let’s take a look at a few of Avery’s finest beers, beginning with the Maharaja IPA. An employee favorite at the brewery, Maharaja offers a flavorful citrus twist, teaming with the hops of a bold IPA. According to bartender, Alex, about 80% of Avery’s employees would vote the Maharaja as their top beer – now, that’s saying something. The Maharaja pairs perfectly with anything from Avery’s southwestern Pork Green Chili to their doughy Das Pretzel served with zesty nacho cheese.
If you’re looking for something a little heavier, then I’d suggest the Bourbon-Barrel Aged Mephistopheles’ Stout, named for the demonic shapeshifter. Ranking in at a high 16.4% ABV, this velvety ancient beer has a smooth finish with notes of dark fruits and chocolate. Tempted by the Taproom Rarity? The dark side is calling you.
If you’re looking for something a little lighter, my go to beer is always the White Rascal, but a new personal favorite of mine is Avery’s First Lady of Song. Another Taproom Rarity, the First Lady of Song is a double IPA infused with Green Tea. It’s not overly abundant with hops, giving it that sweet taste of paradise, and an even better aftertaste. Whether you’re just stopping by for desert, or feasting on Avery’s Half Bird, the First Lady of Song won’t disappoint.
By the way, if you are stopping by for desert, I strongly suggest the Apple Tart, smothered with vanilla ice cream and a cinnamon frosting drizzle. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. If yours is too, go check it out – they’re open until 11PM.
