Reed Maiocco has succeeded!!! He completed his final of the 58 peaks over 14,000 feet in Colorado before turning 20. He now belongs to an elite group of 5 young superstars. His climbing partners have included  Jason Penaloza, his mother, Amy Campbell MD (about 15 peaks), climbing partner Lucian Dacchille,  and his father on one of them. The epic adventure was completed on Tuesday, the day after labor Day, with the scaling of Pyramid Peak, an especially challenging climb. Jason Penaloza was his partner on the Pyramid Mountain climb. 

This is an amazing feat for someone of any age, let alone by someone completing it so young. Family support was of course essential. He started with Longs Peak at age 12!

Pyramid Peak is near the Maroon Bells in Colorado. It is located in the Elk Mountains, approximately 12 miles southwest of Aspen, in the Maroon Bells–Snowmass Wilderness of White River National Forest. Pyramid Peak is about 2 miles east of the Maroon Bells, which consist of Maroon Peak and North Maroon Peak. The trailhead for Pyramid Peak starts at Maroon Lake, the same access point used for the Maroon Bells, making it part of the same scenic area. The peaks are visible from the Maroon Creek valley, and Pyramid Peak’s standard routes offer views of the Maroon Bells, particularly from the summit.
