Boulder’s Dog of the Day: Goldie and the Peaks of Joy

Meet Goldie, today’s Dog of the Day—a golden retriever with a heart as big as the Flatirons and a passion for Boulder’s mountain trails. From sunrise scrambles to golden hour descents, Goldie is happiest with her paws on a dirt path and a peak in sight.

Some of her favorite climbs include Green Mountain, with its forested switchbacks and rewarding views, and Mount Sanitas, where the energy of Boulder pulses below. She’s also been known to tackle South Boulder Peak, a quieter challenge with panoramic scenes that seem to go on forever. Each trail offers a new adventure, a new scent, and a chance to share the wild with her human by her side.

Boulder’s vast Open Space and Mountain Parks make these peak experiences possible. With more than 45,000 acres of preserved land and over 150 miles of trails, Boulder’s open space is a haven for outdoor lovers—especially the four-legged kind. The town’s commitment to nature means dogs like Goldie can explore, roam, and climb in some of the most beautiful landscapes in the country.

One of the greatest gifts of Boulder life is the bond forged between people and their dogs through these shared mountain moments. Whether you’re scaling a steep incline or pausing on a sunny ridge, reaching a summit with your pup is a triumph of love, loyalty, and pure joy. It’s a reminder that sometimes the best adventures don’t require words—just wagging tails and open trails.

Goldie isn’t chasing peaks for the glory—she’s chasing them because they make her feel alive. Her ears perk at every trail marker, her nose lifts at every breeze. From Sanitas to Shanahan Ridge, every outing is an expression of freedom and gratitude.

For those new to town or looking for the next great adventure with your dog, there’s no better place to start than exploring Boulder’s beloved trail network and letting your pup lead the way to joy.
