Monday Motivational: Are you Grateful?

Motivational Monday: GratitudeIt’s Monday…. let’s talk GRATITUDE!  Who feels grateful that it is Monday?  There has been research done that proclaims people actually feel more depressed on Mondays.  One article I found was literally titled “Scientific study concludes that Mondays suck!”  Crazy, huh?   Well, if you are reading this article thinking that you are going to be one of those statistics, it’s time to change that!

Did you know you actually get to choose how you feel and how you respond to circumstances?  You might be thinking, “yeah I know that” …. but do your actions reflect that you know that?  Or do you allow your circumstances and people around you determine how you feel?   If you do, you are giving away your joy to someone or something else.  What if you could experience joy and peace in spite of your circumstances?   I truly believe that is possible, but I’m not saying it’s easy.  It does get easier when you practice it.

Back to gratitude.  I’m not just talking about the fluffy feel good type of gratitude that every yoga teacher preaches or the tip jar sign that says how much they appreciate you.  I’m talking about genuine, in your gut gratitude.   Did you know that all of our energy actually emits a vibrational frequency?   It is very similar to a musical vibration, think of a musical triangle and how you can almost see the vibration in the sound as the triangle is struck.  If you’ve ever been in any type of singing group, you probably have attempted to get in the right “key” or “pitch.”  It is much easier to match a note when you first hear that key.   FACE, a male acapella group, has perfected this art.  When they start a song, one of them gets the group started by using a pitch pipe to set the initial key.  The others then match that tone frequency.

Our emotional energy works very much the same way, for better or worse.   Have you ever heard someone in a bad mood say, “It’s just been one of those days!”?   That is an example of the lower, more negative energy dominating.   Once in that negative cycle, then you attract more negative stuff.  People that stay there for days on end, will end up with a very miserable life.

The reason gratitude has so much power to change everything is because gratitude is on the same frequency as abundance, joy and love!   When you begin to exude gratitude, then you naturally attract the things that align with that higher vibration.   Gratitude is a powerful tool we can use because it is something we can always create…. if we choose to!  If you are reading this article that means you are breathing and you have some sort of electronic device and the internet.  There are three things right there you can be grateful for.

I’ve spoken to many people and most people agree that we all have different vibrations.  That is where the concept “good vibes” comes from.   Most of us know some sort of good energy exists, but I think few people know how to actually get those “good vibes.”   Think about what you put in that “Good Vibes” category.   How about love, abundance, joy, freedom?  Those all sound pretty good, right?   When you play that first “note” by expressing gratitude, the other higher vibrations become a match.

Conceptually it might seem hard to believe this actually works.  The most difficult time to express gratitude is in the midst of a tough situation or when something goes wrong…. basically when you feel the least like being grateful.  That is actually when you need gratitude the most!

My challenge to you this week is to put gratitude into practice and experience it for yourself.

This week’s challenge:

  • Write down 5 things you are grateful for… genuinely grateful for.
  • Start a Gratitude Journal, see if you can complete a 30 day Gratitude challenge.
