National Yoga Month: 7 Unique Colorado Yoga Gatherings For Playful Exploration

September is known as National Yoga Month. All throughout the Boulder-Denver areas, there will be several yoga-related activities taking place within the next few weeks. If you’re looking to add extra flare to your already-existing practice or didn’t get the opportunity to participate in any yoga-music festivals this summer, not to worry! There’s still time to partake in some truly exceptional yoga gatherings scattered across the Front Range. Enhance and celebrate your practice with friends, family, and fellow yogis at one of these upcoming events.

VINYASA AND VINO
Date: September 6th

Fall is in the air, but just because the weather is winding down doesn’t mean your yoga practice has to. Embrace the changing of the seasons and welcome the upcoming autumn harvest with this unique yoga and wine pairing (in that exact order). Join sommelier and yoga teacher (ERYT 500) Shannon Paige—founder of Earth Yoga Studio—for an evening of twists, turns, and tasting. After a relaxing alignment-based flow yoga session, prepare your palette for sampling a variety of fall-favorite reds and whites like a pro! Looking to gather fresh inspiration for upcoming holiday food ideas? Seeking knowledge for properly selecting and pairing wines? Then this gathering is one you don’t want to miss! Pour into your practice as equally as your wine glass. By the end of the night you’ll leave refreshed, with a newly acquired skill to test on your friends and family come Thanksgiving dinner.

Get your jam on with this one-of-a-kind Lady Gaga-inspired yoga class! An icon of self-love, Lady Gaga is also an avid yoga practitioner. Take some inspiration from the Mother Monster and celebrate what makes your uniqueness shine with an all-levels session to Gaga’s tunes, using Sound Off headphones. What’s more…$3 of each ticket will go directly to the non-profit Guided By Humanity—your presence truly does make a difference! Afterwards, unwind and relax with complimentary refreshments.

KIDS YOGA IN THE PARK

Yoga is for everyone, including the little ones. For all you parents looking to have your kids try something new, a 30-minute yoga practice in the park might just be the thing! Sponsored by Western Home Inspection, this free community event will be led by certified yoga instructor, Leslie Amico (ERYT 200). Introduce your children to a beginner-level yoga class, where they will learn and play with basic postures for building courage and optimizing healthy habits. Parents and guardians are welcome to tag along in the fun, and absolutely must be present throughout the entire event. The session begins at 10 a.m., so be sure to arrive a few minutes early for signing in (no mats necessary). Once the practice is over, fresh coffee, juice, and pastries will be readily available for indulging, so come treat yourselves!

YOGA AND TEA TASTING

What better way to soak in the changing foliage and fast-approaching autumn than a yoga and tea celebration? Gather alongside the Conscious Cleanse and The Tea Spot for a free yoga class, followed by tea tasting—the perfect blend! Come take in the fresh Colorado scenery, practice alongside other tea connoisseurs, and leave feeling rejuvenated and ready to sink into the coziness of fall.

Do you love goats? How about yoga? If the answer is yes to both, then you’re in for a real treat. Presented by Rocky Mountain Goat Yoga, be prepared to engage your core and elongate your spine as the pattering of hooves massage your back muscles in irregular patterns. Goat yoga is all kinds of fun and will be hosted at the first annual RiNo Farmers Market. There will be three sessions available, with the first starting at 9 a.m.—be sure to register ahead of time! Come laugh and release your inner-child through a 45-minute lesson, with plenty of time afterwards for baby goat snuggles. Alongside these classes, several other activities will be taking place throughout the farmers market. From live music and art vendors to fresh, local produce and a beer garden, the possibilities are endless for an entertaining weekend!

Calling all yogis and foodies, this event is one for the books! A collaboration between Bulldog Yoga Studio and the ever-so-amazing Bartaco restaurant, come gather on Pearl Street for an all-levels flow class to build up your appetite. Rest assured that when you hit the final posture on your mat, the promise of a delicious post-practice taco lunch will fully elevate you into complete bliss. Both yoga and food are incorporated into the ticket price, just be sure to bring your own yoga mat and plenty of water.

ATHERIAL AERIAL FLOW

Elevate your yoga practice…literally! Come swing on down (pun definitely intended) to Atherial and partake in an aerial yoga class. Whether you are a seasoned practitioner or have never set foot inside a hanging fabric, this session is designed for everyone. Once in the air, studio owner Reba Malandra (ERYT 500) will be guiding students through an hours-worth of inversion therapy, with an emphasis on building strength and balance from pose to pose. Now is the time to get curious, playful, and push beyond boundaries. The studio takes its safety measures seriously; practitioners will be provided with the utmost support.
