Proud To Be a NORML Athlete!

If you’re a cannabis advocate, you know of NORML. For anyone who doesn’t, NORML is the National Organization For the Reform of Marijuana Laws. Their “mission is to move public opinion sufficiently to legalize the responsible use of marijuana by adults, and to serve as an advocate for consumers to assure they have access to high quality marijuana that is safe, convenient and affordable”.  Although NORML as a group is widely known, less people are aware of NORML Athletics. I’m going to change that, and you can help!

I’m very excited to announce that both Heather and I are now official NORML Athletes! We’re honored to be among names like Olympic Gold Medal Winner, Ross Rebagliati, former Denver Bronco, Nate Jackson, Extreme Snowboarder, Greta Gaines, and Athletes For Care Co-Founder, Riley Cote! We couldn’t be more proud to help spread word about this incredible organization!

As a group, “NORML Athletics is a nation-wide project that encourages people to join their local NORML chapters and become involved with health-promoting activities”. They started by highlighting celebrity athletes and focusing on how cannabis aided in their sports careers. Now they have become a program that can be integrated into any state and/or local chapter of NORML. They believe cannabis, when consumed responsibly, can be incorporated into physical activities like lifting weights, walking or running, yoga, and going outdoors.

All of these are activities I participate in, while consuming cannabis. I smoke or vape before going on a run to open my bronchial tubes, allowing me to absorb more oxygen with each breath. I use topicals on my knees and other sore muscles from training like yoga, working out in the gym, or hiking mountains in Colorado. I want to purposefully stand as a concrete example for the many benefits of cannabis. This is why I chose to become a NORML Athlete! You can get involved too, and it’s very easy!

The easiest way is to encourage yourself and others to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle, while promoting cannabis as part of your routine. Share this article and other articles or posts on social media to help spread the word! Share your workouts, your meals, and your cannabis usage online to show the world this plant can improve quality of life! If you want to take it a step further, NORML Athletics encourages you to “participate in charity events that raise money/awareness for diseases that cannabinoids have been shown to help”. This is important too. If you’re able to show up for a 5k walk for cancer, diabetes, epilepsy, Parkinson’s, ALS, or any of the other numerous diseases and conditions that cannabis has shown to help, please do. Even if you just want to show up and volunteer, your participation makes an impact on the perception of cannabis.

I will be proudly representing NORML Athletics on the MJFITNUT race tour this year and we invite you all to join us in racing, or come out to cheer on the team! We just released the MJFITNUT 2018 Race Schedule and we’d love to see you out there! Please follow NORML Athletics on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to help build their following!

On top of recently becoming a NORML Athlete, I’m absolutely stoked because MJFITNUT was just announced as Cannabis Team of The Year in Vegas Cannabis Magazine! I couldn’t be more grateful to the members of our team, and all those who voted for us. So far, 2018 has gotten off to an amazing start! I can’t wait to see what the rest of the year unfolds! Until next time, be well friends.
