The Worst Season Ever?

December 13th, 2022

Historically speaking, Jack Faulkner’s 1963 Denver Broncos are considered the worst squad in franchise history as the team finished the season with a disastrous record of 2-11-1. But that was a little before our time. Recent memories may have you thinking about Vance Joseph’s 2017 Broncos (5-11) that relied on the laughable trio of Trevor Siemian, Brock Osweiller, and Paxton Lynch to steer their sinking ship. Or Vic Fangio’s 2020 Broncos (5-11) and the failed Drew Lock experiment. But I always refer back to the Josh McDaniels team of 2010 as Denver’s blueprint of football futility. In... Read More

Denver’s Draft Day – Did He Say Cornerback??

May 5th, 2021

The art of the NFL draft is subjective at best.  War rooms filled with billionaires, general managers, and coaches all searching for ways to improve the franchise.  Draft boards in dry erase markers list best players available, positions of need, and potential new faces of a franchise. The game, as usual, provided little defense and even less entertainment value, and the phone wasn’t much better.  Stories of snowstorms, friends’ postings, and the like. That’s when I came across a headline that was so hysterical, so laugh-out-loud funny, that it took everything I had not to spew my latest sip across the room as the liquid found its way out both nostrils. Teams have called... Read More

The Denver Broncos Need a 12-Step Program

January 25th, 2021

After a weekend of binge drinking and complaining about the Denver Broncos, a friend suggested that I look into a 12-Step program to try and solve my problems.  The program talked about being honest with yourself after years of denial, accepting character defects, and that recovery is a process. I told my friend that solving the Broncos’ issues would take way more than twelve steps, but I would give it a try. Hire a New General Manager – The first step of any successful program is admitting that you have a problem, and John Elway was a problem. The hiring of George Paton leaves Denver with... Read More
