Why Lebron Will Eventually be LeGOAT

November 21st, 2023

The Thanksgiving table can get contentious at times. Generations of family loudly discussing politics, sports, and the proper use of nonbinary pronouns. Grandpa may never understand the difference between he/him/his and they/them/theirs, but he will go to his deathbed with the belief that Bill Russell with his 11 rings, is the greatest basketball player of all-time. Cousin Logan is a millennial. He listens to 32 podcasts a week, pays $6.50 for his coffee each morning, and swears in his vintage Kobe Bryant signature shoes, that the G.O.A.T. is Kobe Bryant. Aunt Suzy thinks that Kareem Abdul-Jabbar... Read More

In the 1992 classic film, White Men Can’t Jump, Woody Harrelson plays the role of Billy Hoyle. A short, white, basketball hustler that makes his living on the fact that everyone underestimates his abilities. Last weekend, at the NBA Slam Dunk Contest, Matthew “Mac” McClung went Billy Hoyle on the entire viewing world. The tragic event that occurred last Sunday morning in Calabasas, California has been well documented as former Los Angeles Laker great Kobe Bryant (41), his daughter Gianna (13), and seven others were killed when their helicopter crashed on the way to an early morning event. The NBA honored the 5-time Champion with tributes from around the league, fans poured to the Staples Center to leave flowers and signs, and chants of Kobe were heard in venues across the globe. As a basketball fan I understood. Bryant was an 18-time All-Star, 15-time All-NBA, and 12-time All-Defensive player that dominated... Read More

Michael Porter Jr. – Worth the Wait

June 26th, 2018
Michael Porter Jr.

As the names were announced in last week’s NBA draft, players such as DeAndre Ayton, Marvin Bagley III, Luka Doncic, and others strutted to the stage in flamboyant suits and logo filled caps to shake hands with the commissioner and celebrate their early first round selection.  Michael Porter Jr. sat awkwardly at a table nearby waiting for his name to be called. Projected at one time as the top high school player in the nation and potential number one overall pick, Porter started to slide down the draft board over concerns of a back issue that sidelined him for most of his freshman season at... Read More

Five Free Agents That Would Fix the Nuggets

June 13th, 2017

If you are watching the NBA finals, it’s obvious that the Golden State Warriors are the best team in basketball, the Cleveland Cavaliers are a distant second, and the Denver Nuggets are not in the conversation. The current Nugget squad is talented, young, and well coached. The only problem is that they’re a perennial ninth seed. Beating Golden State seems like a reach, but we don’t have to be the Prom Queen, we simply want to be invited to the dance. Here are five free agents that could get the Nuggets to the playoffs. 1) The Nuggets need a big-time player and they need him fast. As far... Read More
