Why the Unpredictable Nature of Hiking Makes Life Worth Living

February 18th, 2023

Throughout my life, hiking has always been something that both excites and terrifies me. Before I even had ability to walk, my parents would carry me in their backpacks along their hikes. As a very young child, I looked at the environment in wonder. I didn’t have the slightest idea what I was looking at, but the incredible color palette of the Boulder County trails kept me coming back for more. It kept me curious, and gave me an unshakeable feeling of wanderlust many years before I even knew what the word meant. As I grew, I gradually felt more comfortable in nature. My childhood curiosity... Read More

Faces of Boulder – Pic of The Day ~ Eva

February 2nd, 2022

Eva is a 22 year old student that is in Boulder attending a university and I loved interviewing this woman. Costa Rica, located in Central America is where this piece of joy is from. Movement is something that is in her everyday life, because movement makes things happen, movement is satisfying, and quite frankly movement is what has gotten her to Boulder. For example, Eva loves loves loves to snowboard! She feels like its her “flow” and and it’s the closest thing she can get to a tropical thrill. As far as I can see Eva is very active and a very driven young lady. Her mom is... Read More

Know Thyself When Seeking A Mate

July 25th, 2018

I recently went on a date with a nice guy with whom I had quite a few shared interests.  During the course of the conversation, he mentioned that he didn’t have health care. I was a little surprised because in your 50s you start to have need for health care more than you did in your 30s and even 40s. When we parted company I noticed that he drove a very nice car and it made me think, why is health care such a low priority for him?  I never really thought that through however, because I started thinking downstream about a relationship with someone with no health care.  I considered what would... Read More

Edible Indulgence and the NFL

January 30th, 2017

Photo Credit: pixaby.com Why does the National Football League (NFL) deny their players the right to use marijuana instead of habit-forming opioids?  That is the billion dollar question!  While NFL players continue to be suspended for cannabis use with just 35 nanogram of THC per milliliter, consider the fact, the Olympics allow four-times that amount for athletes around the world in the biggest competition on the planet. Crazy, right? So, what’s a football fan to do…watch the game high, of course! Edibles are a best bet for an evening of high-stakes football.  Here’s what to expect in... Read More

She really likes to stay active, and kickboxing is beneficial to her in multiple ways. I found this tough cookie at CU’s Rec Center, so be sure to find... Read More

On the Death of a Stranger

September 27th, 2016

A girl I knew in high school posted childhood pictures of the two of them, without caption or commentary, and the grainy stills did not sit well with me. Her intention, it was unspokenly clear, was more than reminiscent. A cursory web search of his name returned first a years-old news story from the town in which we all grew up, detailing his arrest after having fallen through the ventilation system of the administrative building of a local housing development, his afterhours violation neither validated nor explained in its absurdity by the article. The image was so quintessentially Kyle – an... Read More

Strength, Love, Success and Attraction

March 30th, 2015

I am constantly spending my time reading and re-reading books that have resonated with me. It is always fascinating how your current circumstances will open your eyes to new messages. It seems as though you will always find the right message at the right time – if you are open to receiving it. I came across these 2 quotes in a book titled, “Creative Mind and Success” by Ernest Holmes. This is a phenomenal book full of incredible advice. The first quote is as follows: “The world seeks strength; be strong. The world loves love; embody it; see the good in all people; let go of all else. People... Read More

Valentine’s Day in Boulder

February 12th, 2014

Love is in the air here in Boulder, as Valentine’s Day swiftly approaches. Now is the time when Boulderites quit burning their incense, and start lighting their scented candles.  Flowers, wine, chocolates, and (hopefully) condoms are flying off the shelves as the whole city begins to celebrate the international day of love. Some will be doting on their significant others with lavish gifts and romantic gestures, while others will be in a mad dash to rustle up a new significant other before the buzzer. (Really, how significant do they have to be?... Read More
