Cannabinoids for Fitness

April 13th, 2019

Earlier this week, I had the honor of presenting “Cannabinoids for Fitness” at the Cannabis Science Conference East in Baltimore, MD. The Cannabis Science Conference is the world’s largest and most technical cannabis science expo. It pulls together cannabis industry experts, instrument manufacturers, testing labs, research scientists, medical practitioners, policy makers, and interested novices with the goal of improving cannabis science. It was an incredible educational conference and I’m proud to share some of our presentation data with you today! Research is showing that cannabinoids... Read More

The Mile High 4.20K Comes to Denver on 4/20!

March 16th, 2019

A mile higher. A mile healthier. That’s the slogan for the first ever 4.20K walk/run coming to the mile-high city on 4/20/2019. Denver is well known for having an overwhelming number of events catering to the cannabis lifestyle, and now there’s one specifically for athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and anyone looking to promote the health and wellness benefits of this remarkable plant. The event is designed to “raise awareness and promote a healthy lifestyle with cannabis for medicinal purposes; physically, mentally, and psychologically. Finding different ways to give back to the community without... Read More

Personal Trainers Consume Cannabis

July 14th, 2018

I am a sponsored trail runner and personal trainer and I incorporate cannabis in my daily training routine.  Specifically, I consume either flower, concentrates or edibles before hitting the gym, trails or yoga sessions.  I also apply topicals to achy joints, such as my knees and shoulders and consume hemp foods throughout the day. Cannabis is a powerful anti inflammatory, and when consumed before a training session, allows me to focus mentally. This helps me maintain longer training sessions. My husband, Antonio DeRose, also uses cannabis as a part of his daily health and fitness routine. We’ve... Read More

Ellementa: Global Cannabis Wellness Network for women

Last week I had the wonderful opportunity to be a speaker about Fitness and Cannabis on the panel at June’s Ellementa event. Ellementa is a Global Cannabis Wellness Network for women. They host monthly gatherings in 35+ cities, bringing together women with experts and brands. The group aims to release the stigma surrounding the plant, and hopes to empower women everywhere to ask questions, learn, and educate someone. On the panel alongside me was Olympian and World Champion Joanna Zeiger, PhD. Joanna is the Founder and Coach with Train Away Chronic Pain. They believe the combination of aerobic... Read More

Running for a Reason

Running for a reason_Ragnar Trail

In addition to our other 10 races we are running this year, my husband and I decided we wanted to build a team of 8 athletes to complete a Ragnar Trail relay. We had no idea it would be one of the best weekends ever! When I became the team captain, I was a little hesitant about coordinating a team. We needed an additional 6 runners to run a total of 14.4 miles each to total 114.4 miles and we wanted team members to be open to cannabis use and promotion. A couple other cannabis athletes we knew joined the team to support the cause. Marie Peel, co-founder of Denver’s luxury transportation service... Read More

Cannabis Miles for Charity

March 3rd, 2018

With 11 races scheduled this year, including an 8 person Ragnar Relay over 2 days, the MJFITNUT Team will be logging in some serious miles. Each one of those miles spent training and competing will be fueled by cannabis. Does this mean cannabis flower and concentrates, or edibles and topicals? All of the above. Does it also mean hemp seeds, hemp protein powders, and other hemp food products? You bet it does. These routines are that of a cannabis athlete, and the miles cannabis athletes put in could be called cannabis miles. MJFITNUT has committed to donate their cannabis miles to charity, and you... Read More

Faces of Boulder – Pic of the Day!

Jeff’s favorite smoothie is filled with every kind of berry he can find in his kitchen. His most recent smoothie included strawberries, bananas, blueberries, raspberries, kale, spinach, chia seeds, and peanut butter. As a recent transplant from Minnesota, this dude is passionate about getting out there and talking to everybody we meet on the trail…for at least 10 minutes. We chatted to this one guy who is hiking the TMB (Trail du Mont Blanc) next month and another guy who flies glider planes in Colombia. Jeff can be seen hiking or running at Chautauqua or even climbing up the flatirons.  Read More
