Fantasy Football – Five Studs and Five Duds

September 28th, 2021

John Wooden once said, “Failing to prepare, is preparing to fail.” In the world of Fantasy Football, failing to meet expectations, is expecting to fail.  So, when DeAndre Hopkins brought in only 13 receptions in his first three games while nursing a questionable hamstring, I expected my Fantasy Team to suffer greatly, while preparing to fail. The Las Vegas (Will always be Oakland to me) Raiders let me down as well, as my RB2 running back Josh Jacobs missed game two with a hamstring issue.  I replaced him with his backup Kenyan Drake, a standard Fantasy Football maneuver. Drake ran for a total... Read More

The Denver Broncos – Early Season Predictions

May 18th, 2021

Considering that the Colorado Avalanche start their run at Lord Stanley’s Cup this week as the top overall seed, while the Denver Nuggets begin their march to the NBA Finals just days later, it seems ridiculous to talk about the Denver Broncos when the NFL season does not kickoff until September. It would be one thing if Denver had managed to trade for Aaron Rodgers, but even as Bronco Nation continues to dream, common knowledge has Green Bay holding off on any trade talk until after the First of June with the intent of maneuvering Rodgers’ $31 million dead cap money into something more manageable. But... Read More

The All-Injury Team

September 29th, 2020

The National Basketball Association recently announced its All-NBA Team comprised of what is considered to be the best five players at each position during the 2019-20 regular season.  The league went on to name a Second Team All-NBA, a Third Team All-NBA, and they were just getting started. There was an All-Defensive Team, an All-Rookie Team, and even an All-Bubble Team filled with players that just happened to excel during their limited time in the Orlando bubble. I now give you the All-Injury Team. Whether it’s the lack of conditioning due to COVID-19 restrictions, a lack of readiness due... Read More

How to Win the Office Pool – Fantasy Football 2019

August 30th, 2019

If you followed my advice last season, undoubtedly it was a stellar year. It was close to perfection as my quarterback threw for miles, the tight end lit up the scoreboard, and no-names like the Chicago Bears Tarik Cohen and the Green Bay Packers Aaron Jones surprised all. The 2018 squad predictably survived a 2-2 start as they waited for Julian Edelman to come off a four-game suspension for steroids, selected a Zach Ertz early in the draft to pay dividends, and told you that Cooper Kupp would be something special. If you took my advice, you jogged to the Championship Game along with me. It hurt... Read More

Bronco Draft Gives Them a Chubb

May 1st, 2018

With all the speculation leading towards the Denver Broncos selecting a quarterback-of-the-future in this year’s NFL draft, gun-slinger John Elway failed to pull the trigger, but didn’t draw a blank.  After Cleveland continued its historic failure of drafting quarterbacks by selecting Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield with the first overall pick, the Browns compounded their mistake by selecting Denzel Ward (CB/Florida State) providing the Broncos a gift of edge-rushing proportions. It’s possible that Elway had his eye on Mayfield or Sam Darnold (USC), but after both quarterbacks were taken off... Read More

Denver’s Draft Pick – Fairly Obvious

March 20th, 2018

Now that John Elway has his quarterback, predicting who the Broncos will take with the fifth pick in the 2018 NFL draft is fairly obvious.   It may not be sexy, but Denver needs major help on their offensive line so look for Elway to select Quenton Nelson, a beast of a lineman out of Notre Dame.  You can pencil Nelson in as an immediate starter and a future pro-bowler for years to come. Actually, since we’re doing this in pencil…Case Keenum only signed a two-year deal for basically Brock Osweiler money, which means Elway doesn’t see him as the long-term solution, but more of a stop-gap... Read More
