Boulder Date Nights That Will Make You Use Your Noggin
If you are the type of person who likes puzzles and challenges, or you’re looking for a date night that requires active participation, here are two Boulder activities that won’t disappoint. These are great for larger groups (and couples, too).
Boulder Enigma Escape Rooms (1426 Pearl St. #020)
This is the ultimate Boulder experience for problem-solvers. I recommend going as a group—the more brains the better. You and your friends (up to eight people) are literally locked inside a room for 60 minutes and must follow clues and solve puzzles to get out. (Don’t worry, there’s always a staff member to let you out of the room in an emergency.) Even if you don’t solve the puzzle, it’s worth every penny. Plus, it’s a nice change of pace if you’re tired of dinner-and-a-movie date nights.
They currently have two different escape rooms, The Missing Scientist: Part 1 and The Missing Scientist: Part 2, but you can do them in any order. You can reserve tickets online ($28/person), or just stop by if you happen to be in the area.
Geeks Who Drink Trivia Nights
Trivia is often intimidating and/or stuffy, but Geeks Who Drink trivia is neither of those things. They host trivia nights at several Boulder locations throughout the week, including Backcountry Pizza and Taphouse on Monday, Harpo’s on Tuesday, Twisted Pine Brewing Company on Wednesday, Old Chicago on Thursday, and CHUBurger in Longmont on Saturday. (Check the “Quiz Schedule” section of their website for the start times and locations.)
Geeks Who Drink trivia always consists of several eclectic rounds, including two audio rounds and a visual round. The topics are usually humorous and cover a wide range of knowledge. And it’s easy to play. Just show up at the venue with a team of up to six people. Pick up a packet from the trivia host. Choose a team name. Drink and answer questions. Throughout the night, there are several opportunities to win free beer and gift certificates. Even if you don’t win, it’s going to be entertaining and maybe even educational.
