The Laughing Goat

May 8th, 2018

The Laughing Goat coffee shop is on 1709 Pearl St. Honestly, the name was all I needed to draw me in. On the wall is a sign that says “Be Nice or Leave.” All of the customers seem to abide by this policy very nicely. Every single person is quiet in the cafe, except the staff, as they are discussing crazy Uber ride stories. I look around to notice there are gold little goats on the glass of the cafe, they look like they are dancing as opposed to laughing, but they still look happy just the same. They certainly add their own unique character. I notice that every single person here is alone; the... Read More

The Walnut Cafe in April

May 1st, 2018

The Walnut Cafe is a known wonderful breakfast spot. Of course, you can find the Walnut Cafe on 3073 Walnut St. in Boulder. It’s a perfect place to go for a breakfast bite. You will find the older look and feel of the place charming and reminiscent; but the energy, art, and culture proves to be fresh and modern. Walking in everything about the Walnut Cafe threatens, “Safe Space.” Brunch spots need more than just good food to keep people coming back for more. It’s obvious by the rainbows, “safe space” stickers, and “love wins” art on the walls that whatever you identify as, the cafe... Read More

Alpine Modern in Spring

April 24th, 2018

Alpine Modern on 904 College Avenue in Boulder, sits a little cafe so beautifully tucked into the landscape. Among its patrons sits trust fund babies on laptops and bar stools, waving to their campus crushes. Yet, there are also older couples from surrounding areas also pour in with their dogs and sit on the porch in the spring. Alpine Modern is a restored cabin up on the old college hill. There’s wifi and pastries. If I were still in school, I could see myself sitting amongst the hills and coffee, feeding upon the morning energy. This fine Saturday the sun was just out to play, and the patio... Read More

Butter Candles and the Bru

April 17th, 2018

I walked in on a spring evening when warm weather had just begun to pop it’s head out. The music was live. A shy young man stood hiding behind his equipment. He shyly glanced towards the audience, hopeful they would listen to him sing. His voice was loud, and his music accompanied his sound filling the speakers. The ambience of the restaurant felt busy and trendy with the live music, and yet the man behind the mic style remained a bit shy with his talent, as his head did little nods to see if anyone was listening. The awning of the restaurant will not lull you in. But shy talented musicians,... Read More

Heifer and the Hen

April 10th, 2018

Let’s avoid all the parking hassle on Pearl St. and still find great ice cream. Heifer and the Hen on 5290 Arapahoe Ave, in Boulder is the place to find just that. Nestled in view of the mountains and perfectly placed for an after dinner options, sits the creamery. A nice young gentleman asked what we wanted and after serving the ice cream proceeded to tell us all the restaurants he was involved in, he worked next door at the Bru, at the ice cream parlor, and was even opening up his own food truck. He was obviously a food connoisseur with great taste, and a strong appetite for food and the culture... Read More

Next Door

March 27th, 2018

I was feeling tired and hungry. Stumbling into Next Door eatery was a perfect reprieve to my night on Pearl Street. On 1035 Pearl St sits a wonderfully lit almost beachy restaurant. I was mostly lulled in by the live music outside. A man in his forties sat playing some old tunes, with a smile to his face as he said, “I bet no one remembers this song.” We were seated quickly and found a booth in the corner. Next Door has seating near the bar and window, a perfect way to acquire more action with a high top. The sit-down area felt almost like its own operate restaurant and was a bit more cozy... Read More

Fresh Thymes

March 20th, 2018

Fresh Thymes can be found on 2500 30th St. #101 in Boulder. It is a must for a healthy lunch, fabulous dinner, or even worth a trip to help a sweet tooth! I walked into Fresh Thymes only to be greeted by a friendly and almost all female staff. I stood awkwardly not realizing that you look at the menu, order, and then sit wherever you like. The restaurant is so fancy and so modern, it looks like a sit down place; it functions more like a deli. The food can also be taken to go. A nice woman behind the counter informs me how everything works. I get in line and decide to order food from the buffet. I... Read More

River and Woods

March 13th, 2018

Once upon a time, I asked my coworker err, woodsmen, about his favorite place to eat in Boulder. “You must go to River and Woods,” he chimes in. His bearded smile grows talking about the delicious food, classy atmosphere, and exceptionally reasonable price for the quality of the meal. So, I pack my basket and I am on my way. Over the river and through the woods to 2328 Pearl St. Boulder I go. I arrive at grandma’s house. Foolishly realizing it is a popular place and in hind sight I should have called to say I was coming. They were able to seat me though, as it was only a Wednesday night.   I... Read More

All the Good Bites and Beets

March 6th, 2018

A simple google search brought me to 3303 30th St, in Boulder. I gave Blooming Beets a chance, and in return they opened up a menu of opportunities to me. I finally felt a love for food all thanks to them. It is one of the few places I have found that is a paleo only restaurant; I was endeared to it on this aspect alone. Then, throw in the fact that they can do an AIP menu on request, proudly display who they get their food from, are completely gluten and grain free, and support local vendors, I wanted to forever be bragging about Blooming Beets. I will rave to friends, family, and the internet... Read More
