Outdoor Pic of the Day – Boulder Butterflies!

July 17th, 2022

Colorado is home to about 300 of the world’s 20,000 butterfly species, including the monarch, cabbage white, buckeye, and Western tiger swallowtail. These winged insects aid in flower pollination and provide food for a wide range of animals, including birds and ants. Certain monarch populations move from Mexico to the Eastern United States over three generations in the spring and summer. The fourth generation returns home for the winter, a 3,000-mile round trip. Western monarch butterflies spend the winter in California. photo credit: Tony Harman  Read More
